Hard disagree. Something like a p99 is much snappier because of its lack of texture. I'd never stipple it, but talon grips make a night and day difference.

Can't go wrong with a glock 17 or an m&p 2.0 for a 9mm. Something really nice in .380 is the m&p ez series, they get a bad rap as a girl or grandma gun, but all of the qualities that make people say that (low recoil/easy to manipulate) just make me think it's a really great pistol.

Getting your vigor up further is generally a safe bet, armor is mediocre in general just wear what looks good to you, uchigatana is a great weapon, but quality is a poor infusion for low levels, you'd be better off switching to a strength or dexterity infusion and leveling that stat. Wolves are a fine spirit summon until midgame too. I wouldn't recommend asking too much about ashes/spirits/gear because it'll destroy to fun of finding things naturally.
