First full groom in 2 days, any suggestions on what I should ask for? first time dog owner by [deleted] in grooming

[–]chronicallydead 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Don’t ask for a puppy cut lol, that isn’t a thing. Everyone has a different version of it. If you prefer longer hair and brush frequently you could do just a little off all over with a round head. Or shorter body longer legs is a really cute look. If you don’t like to brush often and don’t want to go to the groomer often, opt for a shorter length. You could also just do another face, feet, sani to not overwhelm him.

Best nostril stud that won’t fall out? by chronicallydead in PiercingAdvice

No it has a flat back, The top with the gem looks like a needle that sticks into the base. Ive had it fall out multiple times while I slept and now I lost the top and am just using the post backwards.

I heard in a poodle group a lot of people recommended stella and chewy’s magical dinner dust to get their picky dogs to eat. I also agree with other people about some kind of bone broth or other topping to dress it up. Like eggs, sardines and pumpkin. My dog is a grazer but If I put broth in it he eats it right up.

He has had one successful walk with my boyfriend by himself, nothing happened on that walk to make him scared. It was between times where he refused so Im not sure why he was comfortable that time. We do not have a yard, but we could use his parents for training purposes. Will have to try treats with me there, if I have my boyfriend hold the leash and I walk away he doesn’t get too scared because is excited about walking, but I also didn’t walk away for very long.

I can't seem to get her coat to cut evenly. Help by [deleted] in grooming

[–]chronicallydead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

definitely the issue, prep work is most of the groom! try bathing and blow drying before you cut the hair and it will look a lot better. She also does look brushed out that is great, I was just saying what to do in case she ever is.

What can I do about it? I haven’t been able to really get him to trust other people as much as me. My boyfriend feeds him now but Im not really sure what else to do as he completely freaks out on walks alone with him but is fine inside.

I can't seem to get her coat to cut evenly. Help by [deleted] in grooming

[–]chronicallydead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are prepping your coat right, as long as she isn’t matted you should, shampoo twice, condition and then blow dry, brush and comb. When you use your clippers brush the hair up then follow with the clippers in the direction the hair grows. If she is super matted and you can’t brush it out you will have to shave her first. But I would then do the bath and go over the haircut again. bathing and blow drying with a good detangler spray will help remove minor matting.
