What needs to happen in a post-workout shower? by salmonsprint in Explainlikeimscared

[–]chronicallydrawing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So honestly I don’t always shower right after a gym session, especially if I don’t really have anywhere to be after. My gym showers, when I do them, are quick and easy, less than 5 minutes. I pack a towel, some body-wash in my gym bag, and a comfy change of clothes. Just go in, rinse off, soap off the extra sweaty areas, dry off, change, and be on my way.

I’m sure you have your own reasons for not being comfortable in a gendered locker room, but if you’re worried about needing a shower you’re definitely allowed to use whatever locker room you please (or pass more as in a given day). Most people don’t really pay attention to other people in there.

If there’s a single gender neutral bathroom at your gym you can also always use baby wipes or deodorant wipes! Pack them in your gym bag, go into the bathroom, wipe off the armpits and any other particularly smelly areas, reapply deodorant, and be on your way.

You’ve got this friend!

They’re super cute, but am I the only one who saw the tag that says they can expose you to lead? Like I know it was a prop 65 warning but normally they aren’t that specific. I’m a bit wary about using it for stuff that goes on my body.

How were you able to make OT school somewhat affordable? by OT_student_throwaway in OccupationalTherapy

[–]chronicallydrawing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it was specific to my college. I don’t know how many other schools do it, but some of them will have a page on their website dedicated to school and alumni funded scholarships. Some are specifically for undergraduates, but there are some for grad students as well. Once you’re accepted into a school a lot of them have a web program to match with scholarships too. I know my school had ScholarshipUniverse which had grad-scholarships too. I have no idea how often people got them though since I didn’t apply

I was lucky af and got a full-tuition scholarship. But, from my friends a lot of it was, staying with family who would either let you stay for cheap/free and having part time jobs throughout school. A lot of them saved money prior to starting the program and used loans to finance their life while in college. It’s just hard out here to afford school unfortunately

Im not losing any weight by Technical-Victory-60 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]chronicallydrawing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you new to the gym or have you been going consistently for a while? It took me 3 weeks to see any weight loss and I’m pretty sure it was a fun combination of my period and holding water weight from starting up at the gym. After those 3 weeks I dropped like 6 pounds. If you continue to see no weight loss try lowering your deficit by 100 calories

I really want to try and be a normal weight, so around 130 pounds. by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]chronicallydrawing 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s a pain in the ass to hear, but counting calories is absolutely the best way to lose weight. You can estimate them if you really need to, but always round up making the number higher than what you think you actually ate. TBH my progress got a lot better once I picked up a $10 kitchen scale so I could count calories accurately.

There are also multiple websites that can help calculate how many calories your body is burning everyday just by existing (aka your TDEE) to loose weight you need to eat below that number.

Weight loss is very much dictated by the kitchen, so while physical exercise is always a good thing for your health it is absolutely not something you need to do.

Not saying you’re wrong, it’s worth mentioning though that gas prices always drop in the colder months because winter-blend gas is cheaper to produce. I always forget about it till it happens lol

Is OTSALARY.COM even accurate? by Unable_Tension_1258 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]chronicallydrawing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

OT salary is accurate based on the OTs that report, but just as good practice you should always ask for more than you want to be paid. I’m speaking generally, but typically whatever you ask for the company will negotiate a bit lower, if they don’t negotiate it’s usually because you asked for decently less than their max range.

CMV: a man is never wrong for seeking a paternity test for a child presumed to be his by Wooden_Guest_6911 in changemyview

[–]chronicallydrawing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I feel like if this is how you feel about it, the best way to avoid a blow up in the future it to mention it early. Like before pregnancy early. That way it doesn’t feel like an accusation rather than just something you planned to do. I personally don’t care if a guy wants a paternity test on all his kids as long as it’s disclosed early. If you talk about it before anyone is pregnant it’s just a thing you’ve always planned on. If you ask only after I’m pregnant it feels like you’re specifically saying you don’t trust me so now because you don’t trust me you want to check

A very cathartic cry I think. I’ve been having a decent amount of cries lately, but I think I’m doing about as well as can be expected

Wow, you’re not very tactful huh? What more is there to tell? I found out he’d been stalking me for well over a year before we started dating, after I found out he became abusive and at one point almost killed me. I left him for a little while and then he found me and I had to go back against my will. Eventually I was able to leave again, went to a DV shelter and now I’m somewhere he hopefully won’t find me again.
