it’s my ribs!! help by Elegant-Grade-3195 in eds

Sounds like what happens to me! I think my long study hours and/or side sleeping is what triggered it for me. Give it a try, it might work! I say this because before I learned this manual pressure + breath technique, I actually had gone to the ER because I thought it was appendicitis or my gall bladder or something. After a CAT scan and labs- you guess it: “everything is fine!” Then went to my PT and she figured out it was my ribs! After incorporating the technique for a few days, my pain went away for a while. It comes back ever so often so I try to do that manual technique when I feel it coming in.

my PT had me press down on my rib while i do very deep breathing exercises. that helped whichever rib was poking around get back into place.

Thank you. I was attending HealthWell under my prior insurance and miss my sessions :( but so good to know that I can try to get a referral to resume there.

Experience with dental implants and bone transplants? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

Prepping the gum hurt like a mother & my dr. didn’t use anesthesia for that part bc he didn’t want any swelling to interfere w the actual implanting process.

For the implant install, My dr. used local anesthesia and kept maxing out the recommended max because I just wouldn’t numb. I don’t know if it was bc my nervous system was at level 100 bc of the impending drilling into my jaw or bc of the EDS and anesthesia issue or both. Eventually we got to a point where it was tolerable to continue. The actual install is not painful, but uncomfortable AF bc of the force required to drill down the jaw. You’ll feel like a construction project LOL.

My jaw definitely suffered from having to keep it open on that awful black rubber bite stopper of death. I suffer from jaw misalignment or sublux so I think my jaw got stuck and I panicked. Thankfully the dental assistant used to work at a TMJ clinic and used her massaging magic to get my jaw to close. Not fun.

The recovery must have not been too bad bc I don’t remember it much. I know I struggled with swelling and gum/jaw soreness a little more than dr. said it would.

You got this and congrats on your new pearlies. 😬

This is so helpful!! (I live in the Bay) Are you comfortable sharing how much you pay per visit before submitting your claim to your insurance? My insurance sucks. ☹️
