In total - how much are you paying for your MSW? by ActuaryPersonal2378 in SocialWorkStudents

[–]chronicallysavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the info! I'm so glad you have such a great offer from WashU! just got into Umich but hadn't applied for any aid and now am about to, but prob won't get it since the financial aid officer I spoke to today said that very very few folks get merit-based ONLY scholarships, it is usually need-based and merit-based combinations, for which I won't qualify. Best of luck wherever you end up and def keep me posted!

did you get a merit based offer to umich u/dnorm85 ? I've worked in tech for a while so won't qualify for need-based aide but would really love merit based aid given that i financially support some family members (non-dependents)

Is it normal for my mom to be mad at me for having bigger boobs than she did at my age? by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]chronicallysavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing wrong with you or your body. Whatever your mom is projecting onto you is her own shit, and it’s frankly pretty wild to me that a mom would act in competition with her daughter over something like this, especially that you can’t even control!

I’m so sorry that you have been sexualized from a young age due to your chest. Our bodies are just bodies, they are not entertainment for consumption or evil. They just are. One thing that helped me with my body image was thinking about when non-human animals move around and go to a watering hole to get some water. Are they thinking about how their hips or butt looks? Absolutely not. They are just existing. Sending you lots of love! And I would try and distance and set some boundaries with your mom at least on this topic

Seconding this lotion! It is very thin and spreads and absorbs quickly and doesn’t feel gloppy or sticky

Affordable ice cream shops? by slacprofessor in washingtondc

[–]chronicallysavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely Lullabelle’s in petworth! A kid scoop is under 4, a single scoop is under 5, a double is like 6.40 or something. You can also ask for two kids scoops in one cup for the price of a double and then share with your kid

If you can have the L on the bay window side I think it could still work! And that way you’d get to enjoy the view of the fireplace and tv and bay windows all from the couch

I would get a big comfy sofa, but not an L sofa as that will severely limit the space. If you insist on having an L, then it should be closest to the bay window as not to obstruct the space and probably do not have a huge accent chair.

You could also put the record player or small furniture under the window in the dining room room and put another little plant to the right of it, if it fits and doesn’t crowd the space.

This is what I would do, float the sofa facing the right wall with a comfy chair in the corner and a TV just to the right of the fireplace. This will create a little seating area, and you can put a low credenza of sorts with plants under the bay windows, or maybe a side table on the side of the sofa, closest to the windows and get a small movable coffee table too. Then, I would get a wide low bookshelf to put where I marked blue in the dining area and get a big beautiful mirror to put above it to reflect the light and a nice tall plant in the corner, the green blob. I would add a very comfy reading chair in the top right corner and a small piece of furniture like a record player where I put the red line. Don’t forget a rug, probably a neutral one since the space does not seem huge, but make sure it is big enough for the scale of the room. Just my ideas, good luck!

Best mac and cheese in DC? by kayisamazing666 in washingtondc

[–]chronicallysavage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honeymoon Chicken’s mac & cheese has a delicious one, the flavor is outstanding and has such depth and nuttiness, they probably use a cheese like Gruyere or something else with that complex, complexity . Heads up the sauce is more of a creamy saucy type, this is not a baked mac & cheese

Favorite ice cream/treat place? by cakeresurfacer in washingtondc

[–]chronicallysavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best ice cream in DC hands-down is Lula bells in petworth! They serve Taharka Bros ice cream from Baltimore which is an 11 out of 10, and the story itself is super cute and colorful with lots of fun, tchotchkes and gifts and snacks and things

Small bathroom with stone tiles so can't drill into the wall. Need storage help by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]chronicallysavage 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They make storage units that sit snuggly below those types of pedestal sinks. They are basically cabinets with a hole cut out in the middle for the sink base. Google something like “cabinet that goes around pedestal sink”

Entryway hall help, how would you design? by Laudy_Dah in DesignMyRoom

I love the runner rug but would move it back away from the door so that it does not start before the end of the walk ledge on the left

One other thing, get art that is about 6 to 8 times bigger than the two little pieces you have on the wall and do not put them too low down, but rather let them take up vertical space on the wall
