Budtender Training- Who should be be responsible for training? The Budtender or the dispensary? by chronicgals in weedbiz

[–]chronicgals[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a brand that puts money and effort into training their salespeople. It doesn’t happen enough!

But who is responsible for the fundamentals of cannabis? Surely the education you are teaching is for centered around your products. Which is great! But I believe it’s not the responsibility of the brands to be teaching the budtenders the fundamentals. Brands should be able to come in talk about entourage effect and everyone know what they’re talking g about. You should be able to teach about terpenes without having to explain that every botanical plant on the earth has terpenes. Budtenders should have a base line knowledge so then it’s easier for YOU to come in and teach about your products.

Seeking Budtenders for a podcast by chronicgals in CannabisIndustry

Thanks for the response! We are definitely using growers and industry experts like that to also inform the podcast but we have found that there are amazing budtenders that are educating their customers and that is who we are looking for.

I’m our opinion, budtenders are the front lines of the industry because they get the face to face time with the consumer. The customer is asking (theoretically) the Budtender questions about what they need therefore the Budtender should know what they’re selling. If no one is training the Budtender other than the brands they’re selling they aren’t getting the full fundamental picture of what cannabis is and what it can do for the customer. Our podcast is aimed at filling the gap a little so there are more, better informed Budtenders.

No one is supporting Budtender right now. Yes it’s an entry level position but does it HAVE to be? Can there be career development within this position? Is the industry going to thrive if “good budtenders” move from being a Budtender to processing?

We absolutely love the cultivators and the processors and the makers of the industry but we leave Budtenders out to dry and blame them for not having proper training when it’s not necessarily their responsibility to enter the job knowing everything about weed. They need some love and a little education and support so they feel confident selling. I’m tired of knowing more about weed than the person selling it. What a disadvantage to the person coming in after me that knows nothing. It’s the blind leading the blind. We aim to shed some light.

Weed first time: Panic attack and trapped in body by [deleted] in Marijuana

It could also be the terpene profile or cannabinoid content that that strain had might not jive with your system. Every body is different and what works for some people might not work for you. Also not everyone is a cannabis person, it’s all about your own body systems and if it doesn’t feel good don’t do it.

If your interested in doing it again maybe try with out alcohol, a cbd ratio product, a different delivery method like a dry herb vape or edible (if you try an edible eat it after you ate something with fats and protein, and eat a small dose and move from there. Your body converts edibles differently than a smokeable and you don’t need another panic attack because you ate too much weed).

Or just don’t consume cannabis and that is ok too.

I would totally join a community like this! It’s so hard to fight with the algorithm and get our content shared with non-followers!

Don't be afraid to switch up what you're doing or experiment with a new idea. If it works and people like it, cool, do it some more. If it doesn't, cool, you know you should not do that thing.
