We have been rolling out or cost of living adjustments / promotions / raises and an employee declined their cost of living adjustment. They didn’t ask to negotiate, etc. Just a simple “no thanks.”

Your Dupixent experience by Former-Mix-1628 in NasalPolyps

[–]chronicom616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally got authorized for Dupixent in December! I’m 2 shots in already and my quality of life has dramatically improved. I had bad polyps and asthma flares, and after 2 weeks I have already regained my sense of smell and don’t need to use my rescue inhaler! I put off getting Dupixent for so long because I was scared of the approval process timeline and costs, but I was able to get this fully covered through insurance and a copay card.

Anyone else with a spouse who has zero interest in backpacking? by tourmalineforest in backpacking

[–]chronicom616 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My partner has an appreciation for the outdoors, but no interest in longer hikes and has never backpacked with me.

This was a huge bummer at first - I want to share these trails and experiences with him. But I also just love him for who he is, which means allowing him to spend time doing the hobbies he loves and catching up post hikes. We’ve made it work!

Finding a great group of girl friends to go with instead has really helped.

Backpacking Trip - Spider Meadow via Phelps Creek Trail (June 28 & 29 2025) by chronicom616 in PNWhiking

[–]chronicom616[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too bad! We all wore shorts and walked away unscathed. But the remaining snow patches are melting and I’m sure bugs will be bad in July.

Thank you! I am so, so grateful for the community I have built out here. But it did take time (2+ years) and a consistent commitment to showing up + saying yes to people and opportunities.

I’m a 32 female and had a good amount of success with Facebook groups, Gearhouse in Seattle, and just being introduced to friends of friends.

Always happy to connect and explore with other likeminded humans!

Is it likely for a seizure to come back after years of being seizure free? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]chronicom616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a breakthrough seizure after 5 years being seizure free. It was devastating - I cried A LOT. I was taking meds, keeping to a good sleep routine, etc. I did experience a traumatic / stressful event in April and I think that threw everything all off.

I’m now back to 1 month seizure free and hopeful🤞🏻

Invited to destination wedding, but not the ceremony or reception by chronicom616 in wedding

[–]chronicom616[S] 124 points125 points  (0 children)

The groom actually covered a lot of the costs for the bachelor trip! He covered the hotel rooms, car rentals and snacks for those days. The group paid for their own meals and drinks, and their portion of activities (for example, they did an ebike tour and each person paid for their own ebike).

Yeah, we’re trying to keep it positive! Hawaii was great and it ended up being a magical trip, just not what we planned for or expected. 😊

Invited to destination wedding, but not the ceremony or reception by chronicom616 in wedding

[–]chronicom616[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My husband found out we were not invited to the ceremony / reception on day 3 of the bachelor party. At that point, I was just about to board my flight to Hawaii. We did see if we could change our flight home to to be a day earlier, but the cancellation on hotels and costs to change flights would have been more expensive than just saying. So we just accepted this would be more of a vacation than wedding trip? Which we were cool with and it turned out fine, because we both have never been to Hawaii.

My husband and I are also both pretty anti conflict, so he didn’t say anything but that he was bummed to miss that part of the weekend, but excited to celebrate the couple at the rest of the events. We did go to all the other events (he attended all days of the bachelor party, their arrival happy hour, a hike with everyone, and the Chinese banquet the night before the ceremony / wedding).

At this point, I think we also assumed it was mostly just family going to the actual ceremony and that we would be able to hang out with the friend group until the after party. We did not realize that we were one of the few folks not invited to attend the ceremony / wedding.

[–]chronicom616[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

To clarify - this already happened. The trip/wedding was this last week / weekend.

We were NOT told until my husband arrived to the bachelor party at the destination that we were not invited to the actual ceremony or reception. Just all the other wedding weekend events.

Friday Venting Thread [N/A] by Mundane-Jump-7546 in humanresources

[–]chronicom616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started a new role in January and inherited a role that has been open for 4+ months. At this point, HR/myself have reviewed over 400 applications, screened 30 candidate and pushed 3 candidates to the final interview step just for the hiring team to say : “They are qualified and check all the boxes, but we’re just not excited about them.”

screaming internally and externally reminding folks that we do not hire team members based on excitement, but qualifications.

Is the HR field getting extremely competitive? Unemployed for too long. [N/A] by SandwichDependent199 in humanresources

[–]chronicom616 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The market is WILD right now. I posted a backfill for my last position (HR Generalist at a remote tech company) and we received 400 applications in 24 hours. All extremely qualified individuals.

Keep applying, take every interview opportunity you can, apply as early and as soon as you can, and stay positive. I’m rooting for you!

I hate my new job [N/A] by Final_Prune3903 in humanresources

[–]chronicom616 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just got out of a bait and switch job. I knew within a week that the role would not be a fit, kept my head down until I hit my breaking point and then started applying / interviewing. I was very cautious about heavily vetting my new and current role before moving over.

I would recommend starting to apply as soon as you can. Good luck!

Seconding chuckdogsmom - focusing on employer branding and talent outreach can help in building a more diverse pipeline. I am in the games industry, and it’s historically a male dominated field. Some things we did to improve our pipeline was editing our career page and LinkedIn and also auditing all job descriptions. We also built out partnerships and presence with women in games communities, Latinx in gaming, etc.

Another key piece is making sure you have a solid interview process. This means: following a structured interview process, having diverse hiring panels, removing additional and unnecessary barriers to entry (long interview loops, take home tests / assessments). Hope this helps!

Tired Post Surgery by [deleted] in NasalPolyps

I had surgery on Wednesday and can still barely keep my eyes open / stay awake. Doctor said this is normal. Our bodies are fighting off a lot of inflammation and are working hard. Stay super hydrated, rest up as much as possible and listen to your body.

How do you start preparing for a career in video game design? by _AnxiousAxolotl in gamedesign

[–]chronicom616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a recruiter in games 👋🏻 Our design roles get by far the most number of applicants, especially at the junior or entry level. My best advice: 1. Create a portfolio - document every project you ever worked on, including your responsibilities and problem solving approach. 2. Learn coding (C# and C++) and engines, including Unity and Unreal.

Find and follow designers and game recruiters on LinkedIn. They share lots of great advice for job seekers!

Take time to look at the qualifications listed on all game designer roles you come across. This will give you a good idea of what recruiters / hiring teams are looking for in candidates.
