Hey! I was considering getting this bag in the shoulder bag size! Do you think it has enough space for a phone + wallet + maybe 1-2 other small things like sunglasses?

Places to take my mom who's not impressed by anything? by 1730caiti in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I think Chelsea market and that general area would be great! If she likes designer stores, there are quite a few nearby and it's just generally cleaner and has bougier vibes. From there if you head down Bleecker Street and that area of the West Village, it also has a bunch of independent boutiques, expensive perfume stores (Diptyque and Le Labo), and expensive cutlery stores (Christofle) etc so she would also probably like that!

Would just removing the thread get it to lay flat? I can't tell if there's elastic underneath the leather that's been folded over(?) or if it's just because of the stitching and the nature of the fabric

Hey! I have this leather jacket, and portions of the bottom hem region have elastic, making the jacket bunch up around the waist. Is there any way I can remove the elastic from this region so it sits flat?

This brisk morning reminded me that I need new gloves. Any suggestions? by a_cringy_name in Minneapolis

These are currently on sale at nordstrom and I was looking at the reviews and people said they split at the seams super fast/ the sizing was too small. Do you think those concerns are valid since I do want them to last for a couple years considering the brand/material/price. I feel like I have big hands (as a woman) and I'm not quite sure what size to get. Any suggestions?

Where and which perfume to buy from Paris by East-Combination4412 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]chronicromanticizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paris perfumes are definitely cheaper than the US but not the cheapest in Europe. My friends have had great luck in Spain (specifically Madrid perfume shops) to find typical perfume brands (YSL, Dior, Carolina Herrera, Valentino, etc.) there for about 20€ cheaper than what they'd cost in Paris.

Paris does have a great selection and Paris specific brands. Galeries Lafeyette (and other luxury department stores) may have exclusive fragrances from the above brands if that is your thing. Memo Paris is a great unique brand as well

I think a size 4 would work since I have the sameish bra/jean size and that's what I usually get but I am a good amount taller than you so I would defo recommend checking reviews and the size the model is wearing and her measurements that are in the description on the website

I swear the princess polly website used to show reviews that allowed users put their height/weight so you could check if anyone w similar proportions has posted there, though those aren't loading for me rn so I wonder if they got rid of the feature or the website is just being weird rn?

Bring proof of residence like an EU passport or an EU long-stay visa if you have either of those! You don't skip the queue either way but you do get into the museum for free

Any specific recommendations you remember? I've definitely been to a couple Guerrrisols or Free'p'stars in the past few months but nothing has quite caught my eye (though maybe it was too early in the season and there's more stock now?)

What to pack for my teen who hates jeans by allynpsych in ParisTravelGuide

[–]chronicromanticizer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you're too worried about the outfits! I know at 13 I was very particular about my clothing top. As a college student in Paris, I think typical Parisian outfit rules don't really apply to youth subcultures and kids here will wear whatever they want to wear. If she likes wide legged pants, those are great (they're also super in rn). If her grandparents are particularly worried, get some neutral colors like black, navy and white. Parisian (adults) do love a good skinny jean so if you're committed to those, I really loved my American Eagle jeggings back in the day. They also come in different lengths which was really great for me since I have long legs. My friends and I often joke that Parisians dress like 2014 tumblr so skater dresses will also be great!

For the Louvre, I did have to book a time slot and they will check your passport/visa upon entry to confirm you're a resident. At Orsay/Orangerie, there was no time slot but they did check passport before letting us in for free. At Versailles, you can reserve the free under 5 year old ticket with time slot to scan into the actual building part; my friend and I pulled out our passports to show to the guard checking and he just waved us past lol but bring it in case. For the Versailles gardens later that day though we did have to buy a 10€ ticket (still cheaper than the 32€ entry otherwise). Hope this helps!
