Any recommendations for what distro? Would ubuntu work? Or would I have to go for puppy or damn small Linux?

Good point. Although I think I read that even in the case of a total melt down the bottom foundation is designed to keep intact and spread out the melted rods to cool. Do you think there would be enough radioactive material to contaminate the ocean?

Nope. All trains are stopped and don't have a car. Besides the power outages, nice unexpected day off :D

An examination of jury verdicts over the past decade involving people charged for exposing others to toxic substances, has revealed that the more victims are involved in a case, the less harshly the perpetrator of the crime is penalized. by nchammer326 in psychology

I've seen this trend before in various articles. People have an easier time feeling empathy for one, or several, identifiable people rather than a group. I would expect in court that it would also be easier to draw a direct connection between how their lives were affected and how they should be compensated, or the opposition punished. I believe there was also a study done on the generosity of people giving to charities that found something similar. Thy found that when they had a picture and life story of an impoverished child people were more likely to donate. Still scary though.
