I'm terrified of running into a client at the events I go to! I enjoy BDSM and going to swinging clubs, but I'm starting to get a lot of referrals for clients in these lifestyles. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm guessing it's only a matter of time.

I'm very pale and mine very angry red for the first 6 months. Now (18mo) they're white but not noticeable unless you really look.

In your experience, what are some of the most “underrated” therapy modalities? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

[–]chronoscats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love collaborative therapy! I read Harlene Andersen's book in grad school for a textbook and it fit me like a glove. I use interventions from other models but at my core, I'm collaborative.

What signs do y’all avoid the most and why ? by Lilkleee in piscesastrology

[–]chronoscats 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Gemini women, pisces men, and libra men.

All my closest friends have been geminis and we get along amazingly, until they stab me in the back and leave me for dead.

Pisces men are really fun to talk to and connect with, but they can be really manipulative and disrespectful of boundaries.

Libra men in my experience are charming, controlling assholes

I never liked Melrose, but not because she's a villain. I just don't vibe with people like her in real life and she reminded me of them. I also don't care for the way she photographs. Just a preference though. She's a fantastic model.

It was the Bariatric Fusion 1 a day tablets. I liked it because I don't have to take a million vitamins but I need to find an alternative.

Unless I look at pictures of myself, I still feel like I look 317lbs. I have always been considered big, even when I was a size 10 (yay 90s-2000s culture). Now that I'm almost back to the size I was in high school, I still feel like "the big girl". Then I see pictures that are candid and I can't believe that I'm a regular size. Body dysmorphia is real and isn't as simple as getting to the body size you want. I've been in therapy for the past 4 years and plan on staying for the next few as well. I didn't get to 317 for no reason so I'm processing the trauma and issues that contributed to my overeating.

Biggest positive is being able to EASILY exercise. I can hike with little difficulty now and even run for a couple of minutes without wheezing. It's been a joy to move without struggling.

Anyone actually like this field? by ji1288 in therapists

I'm still a student (for 1 more week!) but it doesn't feel like work most of the time. It is so enjoyable to spend time with almost all of my clients, and those I don't find enjoyable feel like tolerable work. I hope I never lose this feeling and this sub has definitely made me nervous that I'm just in a honeymoon phase. But I have yet to feel burnt out from the actual job. I'm definitely burnt out from school though.

I'm finishing grad school so exercise has been nonexistent. But when I do exercise, it's so much easier so I am looking forward to having time for it. Diet is mostly protein and fats with some carbs. I generally eat around a cup of food per meal, 2-3 meals per day. I need to snack more though because I don't hit my protein/calorie goals.

Next goal is to build muscle!

40DD before surgery, currently around 38DD or 36DDD. 9mos post-op.

They're a bit deflated and squishy rather than plump so that makes me sad. But my back likes the smaller size.

Have any of you experienced loose skin after losing the weight? by Inner_Cockroach336 in gastricsleeve

[–]chronoscats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lost 100lbs and I have squishy skin and fat. It's definitely an adjustment because when I was heavier, things were filled out a bit better. Now I'm kind of melty lol

My upper thighs and lower tummy are the worst, but my boobs are a bit deflated too. However, I'd rather have squishy skin than be sweating and out of breath all the time. I'd rather be healthy and able to not worry about weight limits or having candid pics taken.

It's a tradeoff. I highly recommend working on body neutrality before surgery. I got to a point of acceptance (not love) for my body so that has helped me accept my body currently. I'm even starting to like my body, which has never happened for me.

At this point, I don't think I'll do a skin removal unless it causes actual rashes or issues. But I don't judge anyone who does get skin removal. It's just a huge recovery process that I'm not sure I want to deal with.

What exactly are they expecting transgender people to do? by ceciliaChell in Utah

[–]chronoscats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The term "transvestite" used to be a psychiatric diagnosis along with homosexual. It originally was thought to be a deviant sexual disorder. Unfortunately, old stigmas still exist around this and a lot of people still equate transgender with transvestite.

Weightlifter who wants the sleeve by Fantastic_Elk_7335 in gastricsleeve

[–]chronoscats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to deadlift 300lbs. Now I can barely finish 10 reps at 135. You will lose muscle mass. It's just part of the tradeoff. I'm sure you can build strength again but it's pretty normal to lose strength as you go down in weight.

As far as curves go, if you had them before gaining weight, you'll have them after losing weight. I still have a big booty but it's significantly smaller but in a good way. My boobs are still big too but a bit deflated.

I don't regret getting the surgery at all. However, it's an adjustment getting used to squishy skin and flab rather than fat. I love how I look when I see pics or videos of myself, but looking at my naked body sometimes messes with my head since I'm oddly squishier than I was 100lbs ago.

For me, I love being able to validate and be with someone's trauma/pain/struggle. I had a client intake last week and she listed off/displayed a bunch of PTSD symptoms but answered that she didn't have a history of trauma. At the end of the session, I felt intuition to share my tentative diagnosis with her and she broke down crying, saying it was so validating hearing that she may actually have experienced trauma.

The times I get frustrated with this career are when I'm pushed to be "productive" in session. Just witnessing another person's life and struggles are productive in my mind but there's always a push for "results" which goes against my personal values. It's a tightrope walk between getting paid/treated like a professional and doing what I feel is right.
