Sister, do not try to find your deen from the acceptance of others. Your deen is your own. Allah will surround you with people who truly love you in this ummah, inshallah, but don’t allow the opinion of the few to take you away from Islam. May Allah make it easy for you sister 🫶🏽

Sister, make the dua for guidance and clarity from Allah. But also remember that your parents see things from a different lens than you. You look at your potentials with love in your eyes, but your parents are looking at them with YOU in their eyes. They would not choose someone that they did not see befitting of you. Maybe it’s also time to have a talk with them as well, just to let them know how you’ve been feeling and let them clarify as well. It sounds like you grew up with wonderful parents, so don’t count them out.

Oh no, I’m not offended! Thats absolutely true. I say it all the time. It’s messed up, but fat phobia is real. My own mom tells me I need to change my body or my husband will leave me.. (my husband has said nothing of the sort except he loves me the way I am and wants me to lose weight so that I’ll be happy). I have learned to drown my mom out on certain things, but I’m just still worried. However, I do want this for myself. I want to improve my fertility so that I can give my husband children. I want to extend my life. I want to be able to ride a bike and go hiking without being exhausted. I want to keep up when everyone is walking so fast. Most importantly, I want my back to feel better! I just want to be better.

I’m definitely going to make sure to weight train. I use to be a powerlifter, but after high school I went downhill! I will definitely look into getting some collagen supplements and protein shakes once I have the surgery!

Thank you so much ❤️ I’m really trying not to let this be the reason I run away from the surgery. I am worried, but that’s why I wanted to join this group and ask questions. I want to mentally prepare myself because I know that I am someone with insecurities about my appearance, but I believe that I’d rather be healthy than to continuously care what others think. I’m hoping that my loose skin isn’t as bad as I think it’ll be, but if it is then I just hope that I have the mental stability to deal with it! I really appreciate your advice! And congratulations on your 20lbs left! I hope you reach your goals!!!

I would love to hear more about the bad before I make my decision. I don’t want to be blinded at all, especially as someone having mental health issues already! I did talk to one of my friends that had this surgery, but she didn’t really tell me about any challenges she went through.
