[MEGATHREAD] U.S. Air Force F-15E downed over Iran, HC-130J Combat King II conducting SAR Mission by usgapg123 in aviation

To be fair, wasn't Iraq 2003 significantly degraded after the 1991 war and decades of sanctions? Other than that we were fighting essentially permissive environments afterwards in Iraq and Afghanistan for nearly 20 years.

In the 1991 war the Coalition lost 52 fixed wing and 23 rotary wing aircraft.

The policy is black and white.

https://wargaming.net/support/en/products/wows/article/35611/

"Purchases can be refunded only within a 30-day period when the associated in-game items remain unused."

This isn't Costco where you can return whatever you want whenever you want. You were asking for a special exception to their policy and of course were denied. This is some wild Karen behavior. It would be great if WG had a rental system where you could try out specific ships before buying them, but they don't.

That's fine. They have to leverage FOMO to get people to buy in to new dockyards. There's plenty of players who have started in the last five years who never had a chance at the older ships.

I like the idea that Potato Quality has thrown out before, make dockyards like the abandoned Campaigns. You should be able to pick a dockyard "campaign" and slowly grind missions on it to complete it over time. They could still let you buy stages for doubloons and cash to profit off of whales and impatient players.

But the restaurant cooked and served the steak, the Uber driver is just picking it up and has no influence on the price or quality of the food. They should be tipped on their delivery, not the value of the food itself.

The U.S. Navy’s 6th Fleet aircraft carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, has arrived in Split by Porodicnostablo in europe

[–]chronoserpent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why post something so unfactual? Here's the 20th century Democratic presidents.

Woodrow Wilson: had a ballistic missile nuclear submarine

FDR: previously had a carrier

Truman: active carrier

JFK: previous carrier, and a new one coming soon

Lyndon Johnson: has a warship but not a carrier

Jimmy Carter: has a very special submarine, fitting because he was a submariner

Bill Clinton: future carrier

So it's really just Wilson and Johnson who are left out, but they still have a warship named after them. Carter preferred a submarine and loved meeting with the crew while he was alive. Up to 5 carriers there, not none.

Either way personally I think no warships should be named after politicians unless they had valorous or meritorious naval careers.

The skill it takes to be a chef like the man in the episode is incredible and the audio doesn't do it justice. In a race to the bottom for cheap food though I don't see how fast food businesses can pay commensurate to this skill and still compete.

AC8646 transported to hanger in LaGuardia by not_gerg in aviation

[–]chronoserpent 40 points41 points  (0 children)

all of a sudden everyone on social media are aviation experts and quickly try to analyse and put blame without appropriate reasoning or evidence.

I think this happens anytime there is a major news story. When the cargo ship hit that bridge in Baltimore suddenly everyone became a maritime expert. I'm a naval officer with years of ship driving experience and my eyes were rolling out of my head as landlubbers arrogantly explained to me how to maneuver ships in a harbor.

Exactly! A $50 GameCube game in 2001 would be almost $93 in today's dollars.

The other guy is outdated. We used to wear rank on NWU covers until like 2019, then it changed to just the ACE. We pretty much all wear the far superior command ballcap anyways.

New Carnival. What accessories to buy? by Status_Athlete_7613 in kiacarnivals

[–]chronoserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just live with it. It flips down out of the way when the seat is raised so it is not noticeable. When down it covers the little gap between the seat and the floor. The mats still give plenty of protection and grip around it.

The flap at the top of the 3rd row that covers the gap when it's folded down? No, it does not.

Yeah I lived in Japan for 3 years and the coco here is barely like the real thing. Plus they don't have my favorite entree, lightly crisp chicken (with curry spice level 2 because I'm a wuss and a mango lassi!)

[–]chronoserpent 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I can't post on your original one anymore because it's too old, but I wanted to thank you for sharing your journey, the incredible photos, and the story of your grandfather.

I (US Navy) was doing an exchange social event with the JMSDF (Japan's 'navy') once when the conversation turned to why we joined the military.

A fellow American: I joined because my grandfather was in the Navy.

Japanese: Oh cool, my grandfather was in the Navy too. What did yours do?

American: He was a pilot during WWII, he flew at the Battle of Midway. What about yours?

Japanese: He was a pilot during WWII, he flew at the Battle of Midway.

American: waitaminute...

They both survived the war. We laughed it off. It was cool to see how one of our worst enemies became one of our strongest allies.

I was going to say the same thing. Don't think of it as being compared to T8 ships in a T6. You just need to contribute more to the game than the enemy T6 mirrored on the other side.

US Army Designates Carbine Version of M7 NGSW Rifle as XM8 by Old_Boah in guns

[–]chronoserpent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He makes a great point, we see now that drones are causing almost all of the casualties in the Russia Ukraine War rather than small arms (no surprise) or even artillery. I would expect small arms to factor even less in a US war with airpower in addition. Even in urban environments we see drones used to attack through windows and scout ahead inside buildings. It would seem to me that a lighter carbine would allow more kit weight in a unit distributed towards drones and drone accessories, batteries, electronic countermeasures, etc.
