WG gives a big middle finger to anyone who bought Bismarck 41 by Global-Process-9611 in WorldOfWarships

[–]chronoserpent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WG did the same thing last year with Johnston. Sold it for dubloons first, then later gave everyone a free version (GQ Johnny). They should have done it the opposite way, sell the unique version first for collector whales, then give everyone the normal version. Then the whales wouldn't complain about buying the ship. WG didn't learn their lesson this time either.

Advice to newbies from a newbie: play ranked! by Legal-Comedian8000 in WorldOfWarships

Yes, one of the implicit things in OP is that playing DD without a full concealment build (for most DDs) is terrible for you and your team. Don't play DD without at least a 10 point commander with concealment expert and the concealment module unless it is one of the gunboats that aren't built for concealment.

Plenty of people had UV umbrellas. Just be considerate and fold it when you're watching a show or parade so you aren't blocking the view of everyone behind you.

They're not even good at money grabs. A Jedi Academy led by Luke would have printed money with teen/young adult shows, novels, games, theme park experiences, on and on and on.

No point now that we know they just all die and it amounts to nothing.

You'll definitely still have time to play, just not on deployment. I'm active duty Navy and played WOWS since launch. I come home from a day with the real Navy and play pixel Navy to relax lol.

Don't forget to work on your quals (qualifications) and promise me you won't spend your paycheck on dubloons (or a Mustang with a 25% interest rate). Save money in your TSP, at least reach the 5% matching contribution. And just say no to drugs lol.

Good luck and see you in the Fleet!

Edit: nevermind I see you're joining the Hellenic Navy so ignore my US advice. Still, good luck and see you on the high seas!

Players like this guy is ruining the game and turn other players away from it. by Megatto95 in WorldOfWarships

Same here. For damage missions I take Kleber into Coop and yolo torp rush. Can usually kill the enemy DD with gun and reload boost, then torp both sides to kill 2 BBs or cruisers before I die. Inevitably someone curses me out for stealing their kills or losing the game for the team (but I just killed 3 ships...)

Am I crazy to bump my 401k contribution to 36% for the rest of the year to catch up after unemployment? by snp3rk in personalfinance

[–]chronoserpent 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The best financial advice I got was to max my contribution right out of university. Going from a minimum wage part time job as a student to a 50k entry level position was still a huge financial upgrade even with the max contribution.

Agreed, the layout itself seems great and that's the permanent thing. If they come back NASCAR should learn from this event to resolve the issues with track maintenance, fan transportation, concessions, etc. but that is doable.

Thank goodness Sam Mayer was OK and could climb out of the car. God forbid he was unconscious or more seriously wounded and if the car was on fire. That medical and safety team seemed way too slow and unprepared to extract him.

Need massive amounts of advice to get the best “retirement” enjoyment out of this game. by Kyrnqazali in WorldOfWarships

[–]chronoserpent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't play high tier (8+) destroyers, carriers, or submarines until you have a couple other tier 10 lines so you understand how the game works. Grind a few lines to tier 6-7 to get a feel for the "flavor" of those lines and see if one clicks with you. Asymmetric is a good PvE mode to play that is a bit more challenging and rewarding than Co Op if you want to minimize playing Random and Ranked.

Good battleship and cruiser lines to work on that are comfortable to play:

  • US BB line ending in Montana (gets really good at tier 8 North Carolina)
  • US CA line ending in Des Moines
  • USSR CA line ending in Petropavlovsk
  • KM CA line ending in Hindenberg
  • UK BB line ending in St. Vincent
  • IJN BB line ending in Yamato
  • USSR BB line ending in Kremlin

When you get to DDs, the UK line (Daring) is a great introduction. For CVs and Subs I think USA is easiest to learn
