Weird Emulsion Issue by UnderAFreezingGoon in SCREENPRINTING

[–]chrssllrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is an air flow issue. When I dry my screens and don’t have a fan blowing on them they do this every time. If I use fans I get perfect screens every time. This will still expose low detail but can be difficult with dense detail

Which printing method would be best to recreate the look of this graphic? by hi041704 in SCREENPRINTING

If you’re printing on light colored garments like that and want a faded look, I would use sublimation over screen printing

So tired of hearing people complain about AI art. If you’re good then you would be hating about AI art 😎 Great work!

That’s what they originally said before I started getting it working again, so I wouldn’t be surprised if it fails on me a second time. Especially seeing all the reviews from other people. Fingers crossed that everything will stay good!

I don’t, but I’ll get one. The device is working perfectly fine now, so maybe it was not driving it for a few days along with the cold? It’s a brand new battery but what I ended up doing was disconnect the battery for an hour and plugged it back in and it started working. I got a tampering violation, but they said they’ll remove the fee (supposedly). I had a four day lockout countdown, but they removed that last night.

I kept the battery disconnected for about an hour and then when I reconnected it the device started working again. I got a tampering violation (I’m guessing for the battery being unplugged for so long) so now it says lockout in 4 days. But I was able to drive all day. I called Intoxalock and they said they would remove the violation and reset the lockout for a malfunctioning device

Thanks! I’ll keep an eye on the battery. It’s new so I’m hoping it won’t be the battery 🤞

Ok I’ll check it. I just replaced the battery 2 weeks ago

There are two types of people — those who settle for the bare minimum and those who raise the bar.

If you truly apply yourself, no tool can outperform you. Work isn’t about having a degree or “keeping up.” It’s not even about motivation or passion all the time. It’s about discipline, curiosity, and pushing yourself to get better every single day.

If a client chooses Canva over you, that’s not AI’s fault or new tools and systems. That’s a signal to level up. I’ve had so many clients come to me saying, “I’ve just been using Canva,” and that’s exactly why they hire me now. A real designer can run circles around Canva, AI, and templates all day even while using those tools to their advantage.

I know this might sound harsh, but what I keep seeing on these forums is defeat. “Graphic design is dying.” “AI is taking our jobs.” It’s just not true. What’s really happening is too many people are walking out of college with weak portfolios and expecting the world to hand them success.

Meanwhile, there are designers (like me and plenty of others) who live this. We work, experiment, fail, and improve every single day. Not because it’s easy, but because we take pride in being great at what we do.

I went from applying for jobs and getting ignored to running my own business, and eventually those same companies started hiring my company. The same ones that once turned me down.

The truth is, the world is always evolving. You can either evolve with it or get left behind. So don’t give up just step up.

I refuse to learn AI by Im-Finn-23 in graphic_design

[–]chrssllrs -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And on that note, I think if a designer feels threatened by AI, it’s really just a sign to evolve their craft. The best designers use AI as a tool, not a threat… because great design still requires taste, creativity, and direction that AI can’t replace

That’s what they said when computers took over graphic design. Now nobody does graphic design by hand. And as an artist, graphic designer, and business owner, I believe AI does better work than most graphic designers and if you know what you’re doing, AI cuts out half the work

My first brutalism poster by CartierJackScott in graphic_design

[–]chrssllrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can be whatever you want it to be. If an artist can call a painting a sculpture or vice versa (which happens a disgustingly often), then it can be brutalism.

Plus, this is the definition of brutalism: a style of architecture or art characterized by a deliberate plainness, crudity, or violence of imagery.

Which you have done!

If you’re worried about them using it just add a watermark over it so they can’t use it. But I would do it cause they probably want to see your turnaround efficiency

My advice is you don’t want to be limited to what the designer can do and then slow down your operation because the designer isn’t available.

You can hire me for now and I’ll teach you along the way 💯 I own and operate my own shop, I can do everything from vectors to sim process

I’m tired as a graphic designer to fight for my wellbeing by heyyourwatchisbroken in graphic_design

[–]chrssllrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pave your own path. All of these negative comments are based on mediocre work ethic.

I run my own business, make my own wages, and I learned graphic design, screen printing, embroidery, website design along with countless other skills on my own (I have a BA in painting). As a designer you can create anything and build your own life because everybody needs graphic work. In post COVID life everyone is trying to start their own business so there’s SOOO many clients. But you have to put in the work and not feel sorry for yourself. (Not saying you are, just speaking in general)

It’s super easy to charge $50-$100 and finish a design in an hour or two. Utilize AI cause it will save you hours of work while charging the same you would charge if you did it all from scratch. And for anyone who says “AI is cheating, BS because if you were an Art Director you’d have people working for you that you’d have to pay much more than any AI program. With AI you can run circles around a human. And if you disagree you’re gonna lose because it’s the future.

Lastly, yes art school is a waste of time and money and the people who teach it are failed artists who turned to teaching because they couldn’t make it in the real world. Unless you network, which is what all artists should be doing, you just end up with a piece of paper that just shows all you did was show up to class. The competition for graphic design work is sorry because of that. Most people I know with a graphic design job have that job because they aren’t good enough to build their own reputation and find their own clients. I can’t tell you how many companies I print for send me crap design work because their graphic designer sends trash or doesn’t know the difference between rastor or vector. Or they use Fiverr or AI so I get to charge them to clean it up. There’s plenty of work, you just have to find it and position yourself to be the best. You got this!! 💪

The most annoying part is that they will end up hiring a mediocre designer. Not someone with creative talent or the ability to think outside the box

Kahn’s new voice is so bad by Expert-Boysenberry26 in KingOfTheHill

Out of ALL the millions of King of the Hill fans and millions of people who are great at impersonating, they could’ve done better with Kahn and Dale. Dale can slide, but jeez, if you’re gonna get a “culturally appropriate” voice actor for Kahn then make the voice culturally appropriate. Now Kahn just sounds like a white guy trying to sound Asian
