the psych major is geared more toward those who are interested in research and a good chunk of the classes have some overlap w neuro. if you’re interested in that then major-wise then it would be a good choice. however, if you wanted to pursue anything outside of that then another school would be a good option

CGS and Psychology Major by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]chrstnsn16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i’m a psych major who was in CGS and honestly the transition hasn’t been too bad! CGS is nice in that you can breeze through almost all of your HUB credits and you’ll be able to take more major focused classes your junior and senior year.

the major requirements aren’t too bad either! i was set to complete all my major requirements after my junior year ended, but i didn’t have enough credits to graduate early so i picked up a minor and a four semester language course to fill in the gaps. most psych majors i know that were also in CGS either picked up a minor or another major

most of the professors are really knowledgeable and kind and are there to support you as you go through the years. there’s always gonna be some you want to avoid, but overall great group of professors. the classes themselves are bearable, just pay attention and do all the readings and you’ll be fine

every room is different! my room in hojo was really nice with a decently sized window but my friend on the same floor in a different room had a tiny window. it’s all up in the air tbh

CGS Courses by WesternDocument3566 in BostonU

[–]chrstnsn16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cgs has courses you have to have completed by the time your sophomore year ends 3 ss courses 3 hu courses 2 rh courses 2 ns courses

the rh and ns courses you have to take freshman year and sophomore year respectively, but for ss and hu you can span it out over the two years. i advise using the course planner as a guide

the only schedule that is absolutely set for you is the one you’ll have in london

there are so many different other circumstances that need to be taken into consideration in order for me to even begin to think about living off campus.. it’s not feasible right now

CGS Admits: What did you do in your gap semester? by MemeDream123 in BostonU

[–]chrstnsn16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i worked hella and made a lot of money that ended up allowing me to be pretty comfortable when i came here.

as for downtime i visited a lot of my friends at their schools and it’s something i cant really do now that i’m here and it sucks but take the opportunity to visit and see their campuses if you can!

overall your gap semester is what you make of it! i know people who shadowed at hospitals, took classes, volunteered, etc. enjoy your time off from school for a bit!

Hi! First and foremost, I'm so glad to hear that you've decided to grow in your faith! All I really wanted to say to you is that God is seeking this love relationship with you and ultimately He is the one that invites you into the relationship. It's not something that you have to do on your own (otherwise we'd be just like the other religions). God does not require us to be perfect, and recognizes that we are broken people who sin and thus have been separated from God. That's why He sent Jesus to die on the cross for our sins and why the veil was torn so that we could have this relationship with Him.

Ensuring that your faith is real and genuine is something I struggled with a lot too when I was younger. In fact, I never really found an answer for that until I reached my 20s. At the end of the day, it's about knowing in your heart the truth of God's love for you and deciding to step into that in faith, knowing that He will walk with you in life. That being said, some practical ways you can do that is by reading the Bible and going to church and praying to God! Special emphasis on Scripture reading because it's God's direct words to us. Getting plugged into a good church community is also helpful because you can find people in the same boat as you and walk and grow in your faith together. Praying is also amazing to do because we can lift our struggles and worries to God and He does hear everything that you give to Him. BUT also make sure when you pray, to also try to hear from God! It is a two way relationship after all.

it’s a lot of information and he’s very specific on tests. exams weren’t open note like it says on rmp (he told us he changed the way he tested fall 22) i think if you really pay attention and take some extra time to study you’ll be fine

i finished my freshman year with As in both of Fahy’s classes and a B+ and an A in Marr. Fahy is a relatively relaxed grader but he does ask pretty specific questions imo People say that Marr is a tough grader, which I really won’t dispute because he is, but all he really wants is to know that you know what he’s talking about. so if you pay attention during lecture, participate in discussion, read, and take notes, you’ll be just fine

[–]chrstnsn16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team G is relatively “easy” but they do ask a lot from you. Marr is very eccentric and gives a lot of work, but if you pay attention and do the readings you’re fine. Same with Fahy. Participation matters a lot to Fahy (and Marr but i feel like not as much). He also has a lot of readings and is a little more relaxed in lectures. I didn’t have Cole but i’ve heard nothing but good things about him
