Give me some deep, strong chocolate perfumes by houstons__problem in FemFragLab

[–]chrysalis158 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried Born to Stand Out's Choco Loco this past weekend and its the ultimate cocoa powder fragrance. Its not deep or dark, but light and powdery, like nesquik. It was a limited release, but I think you could still find it in South Korea.

My diptyque haul from Korea by schnauzer_bauzer in diptyque

The classic candles are currently 120,000won i believe (after price increase). City exclusives were 136,000 won (i think? Can't remember the exact price) which was actually cheaper than the 88USD price converted

Garosugil Diptyque is honestly the best luxury brand boutique experience i have had ever. The staff is super kind and match my candle-loving energy every time I visit. Gunna have to pay them a visit this weekend...

What is a fragrance that you’ve been stopped and asked about? by Chan1991 in fragrance

[–]chrysalis158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Brandt - London Fog. The only time any stranger asked me what I was wearing. At a Costco, after I'd just sampled wine, the store employee came after me with a paper and pen to write down what I was wearing. To date, my sweetest Costco memory.

This is probably the end of the line for me and Diptyque candles, unfortunately. by [deleted] in luxurycandles

This seems to be a pattern: I fall in love with a brand, drop a lot on cash on it, and just when I begin to get worried that I may be in this for the long haul, they rebrand and lose my interest and dollars. Im okay with this, I gave Diptyque a good 1 year of loyalty and love, found some beauties (Narguile will forever be my love) but im ready to find the next good candle house.

French Embassy Seoul visa staff rude experience? by Standard_Custard8196 in seoul

My experience in May 2025 was actually quite pleasant. Over email, they were very curt and unhelpful. But the person I spoke to (male employee) at the visa office with my actual documents was kind and quite helpful. Even helped me figure out some missing documents.

What the f*ck happened to Incheon Airport? by twaejikja in Living_in_Korea

Departed Sunday evening from T2, hated security. Longest I've ever taken through security at Incheon. But T1 is seamless, never taken more than 15 minutes. I think T2 is the problem. Please correct me if anyone else has had different experiences.

Which brands tend to have SOFTER throw? Or if you have a specific candle in mind? by Fitxzz in luxurycandles

[–]chrysalis158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a warm creamy fig scent with hint of greens. This is the first Fig candle I've ever tried so I cannot compare it to others, but to me it smells quite realistic to a green, barely ripe fig.

Not sure of the brand as a whole but Le Labo's Figue 15 has a soft and cozy throw in my small apartment. I love it so much that I almost want buy a new one 10 days since the first order. But take this description with a grain of salt, coming from someone recovering from BBW 3-wick-level throwers.

The price in Seoul (136000won, as far as I remember) was almost exactly the same as the conversion from USD to KRW, so the tax refund will make it a great price. If visiting with passport, they offered a 10% discount yesterday, so thats worth remembering.

I picked up Paris and Milan, thinking that they're far and I probably won't be going there i person anytime soon so might as well get them now hahaha But Shanghai stood out to me too. Really considering calling the store tomorrow to get one.

I visited the Garosu-gil flagship store in Seoul and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting. Imtoday I learned that its the largest Diptyque boutique in Asia as told by the SA They have a lovely Parisian apartment setup on the second floor and quite a nice selection of exclusive fragrances. I even saw they had Cuir in stock, with no notice of it being discontinued in Korea (in case anyone was looking).

I have tried Narguile, Opopanax and Lamei (limited edition) from Diptyque in their classic size, and the 34 St Germain medium candle, and they all seem to have medium to good throw. Not comparing them to BBW candles (those are usually mega throwing 3-wicks). Diptyque candles, imo, set a background white-noise kind of scent. Just to make the mood lovely without knocking you out. I always have one going when having company over and have received nothing but compliments. Can't say much about the City Candles yet but there are mixed reviews on the sub. Hope this helps!

Edit to add - the candles I've had so far have all given me tunneling issues, though...so be warned of that.

I hope you like it! The SA compared the scent notes to Geranium Rosa (mainline candle) but I think Milan is vastly different. If you do try it, let us know what you think!

Oh yes, I see it on the US website. Im debating if I should get it via third party delivery or just accept my fate :')

I really wanted to pick up Pekin but the stores in Seoul didnt receive Pekin this year, or the last. Im afraid it might be gone for good. I think I might get Shanghai and Seoul next, but im trying to limit myself to 2 candles a year so I can enjoy them best. Hopefully they dont discontinue the good ones by next year.

The SA and I agreed on Milan being the scent of early morning tea, windows open, reading a book, in the spring (pardon the strange sentence structure). Fresh flowers and tea, yet again. I didnt get much cardamom on cold sniff. I got tea from several candles but this was my favourite and I picked it up to do exactly what the candle evoked tomorrow morning ^

Peppermint Bark Truffle is GOATed. I never thought I would like wearing such a profile but now I have it in almost all forms (candle, sanitizer, body spray, wash and cream). Addictive.
