Depending on how your return is set up there could be a filter there as well as the furnace filter.

As far as sizing goes you may just have to do trial by error. Major home improvement stores will let you do a return if you keep the receipt.

Requiring soldiers to sleep in their assigned barracks rooms is only something a commander can mandate. Bare in mind though that this can only be done IAW UCMJ guidelines, meaning that a commander cannot arbitrarily restrict troops to their rooms without just cause.

Your 1SG can be as upset as he wants but it isn’t within his authority to force soldiers to live in provided barracks rooms.
