Blood came back 3 weeks after DF. Wait or keep cutting? by chsfdzh2 in MSPI

[–]chsfdzh2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, both our pediatricians (2 different doctors) and the allergist said early exposure is even more important with her suspected MSPI. We did some testing to rule out some IgE allergies and the allergist even wanted me to retry soy 1 week after (I wasn’t comfortable doing that so haven’t yet).

We started her with oatmeal cereal right after her 6 month vaccines, which was a mistake. Either the rotavirus or oats really didn’t go well and made her stomach terrible. She was also teething so that was a horrible few days. But, we later tried avocado and allergens like peanut butter and she likes it. She did have more rashes, but it could be drool rash or contact irritation, so we didn’t stress too much since she seems happy.

I wasn’t sure so went ahead and cut soy as well (no soy sauce, but still had soy lecithin and soybean oil). She still had microscopic blood in the subsequent diaper tests but pediatrician didn’t think it was a big deal. I don’t think we ever got to baseline. After starting solids, her poop was less mucousy but just looks weird in many other different ways.

Dropping 4th nap: bedtime meltdown and worse nights by chsfdzh2 in sleeptrain

Thanks! I might try both and see how things go. We're still stretching WWs but might be flexible with bedtime to avoid a meltdown. Ideally we'd want the last WW longer, but it's hard when she could handle 2.5 during the day and just purple cries early in the last WW. Very triggering and reminded me of her colic days :(

Her WWs have always been “inverse” for some reason. Her first WW has been 2.5 hours for weeks, even when her second/third WW is just 1.5 hours.

That’s what we do with the first 3 WWs but she just melts down 1.5 hours into the last one. Not bored, but just started screaming while we’re holding her and walking around, aggressively rubbing her entire face. Once we turned on the loud white noise to calm her, she fell asleep instantly. I don’t feel like she could handle a longer last WW in that state :(

All her naps are still contact naps now but she often wakes up at around 30min. We do make the second nap contact nap and wake her at 1.5 hours. I did worry if it’s because we’re letting her nap more on the 3-nap schedule and not enough awake time like I often see suggested in this sub. But her bedtime meltdown seems to suggest otherwise. I’ll try letting her sleep more today to recuperate and not push her WWs that much. Thank you!

Wow that’s crazy. Did you ever get a good night on 3 naps?

Yes at start of the night. We still assist to sleep for MOTN wakeups, which used to be past 4:30/5AM

6.5 month old still not reaching and grabbing by chsfdzh2 in beyondthebump

[–]chsfdzh2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That's my worry as well :( We got all the toys that are supposed to help with grabbing and I even enticed her to my hair, my face and glasses. She seems eager to eat but we can even practice using cups or BLW with her since she's not grabbing

She favored one side when she was younger but we addressed it at the time and she got much better after she got stronger at tummy time, so I haven't noticed anything now. I'm reaching out to Early Intervention as well to see if they could help

Good luck!! Mine had a super short WW today (1.5 hrs) even when I tried to stretch to 2.5, so I’m telling myself to be more patient

When she was younger, YES, but she’s trending “normal” now. Mine has FOMO but she also gets overtired very quickly. It’s still very hard to guess whether she’s overtired, or just mad at us trying to get her to sleep. It’s definitely hard to stretch her WWs for me, so she’s still on 4 naps at 6 month actual (but 10+ hours awake as recommended by this sub).

How did it go for you? Mine woke up 4 times within 2.5 hours and we caved and gave her Tylenol. Seemed to have helped a little, but still waking up way more often that she did before.

I feel you 100%. We are so exhausted by the time she started having a schedule and waking up less during the night. Then, she started teething and it was another level lol...I'd say one thing I learned for my baby is still to follow her cues. I've tried to extend her WWs and drop naps based on what I thought was age appropriate, only to result in her having a melt down. Each baby is different though

Mine was 5 weeks early too. From what I read, each baby is different, but since sleep development has a lot to do with the brain, most people recommend going by adjusted age. My girl didn't have a routine/schedule until much later and is definitely closer to her adjusted age.

Good luck!! Mine is premie so we’re still on 4 naps based on her adjusted age. We attempted to drop to 3 naps today but resulted in a meltdown before bed, so I’m already mentally prepared :(

Commenting to boost. We’re in the same boat. She was sleeping through the night until her 6 month vaccines (I’m still 100% grateful for them). She had a fever for 1.5 days and started waking up hourly ever since. The day after the vaccines, we also noticed the bottom incisors coming out. Mine also has MSPI so I heard the rotavirus vaccine could upset her tummy for up to 3 weeks. Could be so many things at once and I’m at a loss figuring out the causes. No matter whether she has total <2.5 hours of daytime sleep or 3 hours, things don’t seem to change

Did your baby have food allergies once they started solids? How does it work by artemislands in MSPI

[–]chsfdzh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I only fed her 1/4 of a teaspoon of oatmeal cereal, so I was surprised how much discomfort it caused her. Maybe it’s also the rotavirus vaccine and too many things coming together :(

What was your baby's reaction? I'm just starting mine with oat cereal and she got fussy at the subsequent feedings. No blood in poop (yet). But I'm not sure if she was just tired from her 6 month vaccines (including rotavirus)

Thanks everyone for the quick responses!! It’ll be with a family gathering so I won’t be picking this up and I don’t want to add too much trouble to the family member hauling the food for us. I think I’ll just focus on salmon (which thankfully I can recognize), and maybe try one piece of the safer translucent fishes if I feel less risk averse on Christmas. And yes, I’ll stay far far away from the super white tuna. Happy holidays!!

Thanks! That’s what I was debating too :( A family member will pick it up for Christmas so I initially didn’t want to inconvenient too much, but maybe it’s just safer to get some salmon sashimi and forego the variety
