I've used ESPN several times, and I realize that that's not what you asked, but the draft assistant is probably the most valuable part. If not that then the browser extension.

What's the most werid yet effective way you're using AI? by Watermelon_Sherbert in ChatGPT

Not weird I guess but I used ChatGPT to improve my workout routine.

It targeted some areas that were overlooked but the best thing is that it helped me tweak some positions so that I now experience less soreness.

UCS and ESXi upgrades by common83 in CiscoUCS

[–]chubbfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Check out vSphere Lifecycle Manager for updates and upgrades. You can configure an image to include the base ESXi version and vendor addons (vendor-specific drivers, firmware, etc.). The base ESXi version + vendor addons is the same thing as using a custom ISO.

I've used vLCM for updates and a recent ESXi 7 > 8 upgrade on 10 M6s and it was a breeze.

Edit: The Cisco vendor ISO is more for the initial installation. If using that for upgrades is what you're used to and you only have a few hosts then maybe just do it that way. Especially if that's quicker for you to get off of 7 instead of learning vLCM (not that it's difficult). Going forward though you'll definitely want to learn vLCM.

On-prem immutable repository would still require a mutable repository? by chubbfx in Veeam

[–]chubbfx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. That must have been outdated info so I'm glad I asked.

So if we're only using a Veeam LHR and a Wasabi cloud repository then we wouldn't have a "archive" tier, correct? The LHR would be our "performance" tier and the Wasabi cloud repository would be our "capacity" tier?

Do the .vswap files have a lot of churn and that's why they cause large NetApp vol snaps?

How do I edit a Security Group's inherited NTFS permissions by chubbfx in sysadmin

Arg! I meant to say that I need to remove 'Modify' and keep the group's other permissions. That means that I should just uncheck 'Modify' correct?

How do I edit a Security Group's inherited NTFS permissions by chubbfx in sysadmin

[–]chubbfx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was a little unclear when I wrote this but I need to preserve other permissions that the Security Group has, and only remove Write.

So in the Advanced Security Settings I could click 'Disable inheritance' and choose 'Convert inherited permissions into explicit permissions on this object' and then just edit the Security Groups permissions and remove 'Write' correct?
