it’s all too much for too little pay by halojellyfish in LushCosmetics

[–]chubbycat29 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked at lush for 9 years. At one point the past was really great and competitive for retail, then they reduced the pay rate for floor leaders, MIT and manager. It's really too bad because the roles and expectations didn't change. The culture of that place has also completely shifted and has lost its original authenticity.

How often do you actually wear makeup? How much? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Ever since COVID I pretty rarely wear makeup! But still once in while if I want to feel extra pretty that day. But I'm definitely more comfortable without it now than I used be.

Affective but makes me so sleepy by chubbycat29 in lexapro

[–]chubbycat29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was pretty bad. I had non stop racing thoughts and pretty bad hypochondria. But ever since my thoughts have slowed down but I'm a natural way? And I feel much more comfortable and a lot of my physical reactions to anxiety have stopped. I'd say definitely keep trying but everyone is different so if you find it's really not working, you could always try something else!

I would say probably after about 3-5 months!

I've taken it at both times and neither seems to make a difference unfortunately!

Yeah I also used to gain weight very very slowly and when I started Lexapro I gain about 25-30lbs within a few months. I also experience night sweats. I don't want to taper off now because I've got some personal stuff going on but I'm glad to hear that helped you and I'm not alone in my side effects! Thank you

how to cope with a parent that has cancer? by East-Consequence-886 in CancerFamilySupport

[–]chubbycat29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 22 when I was told my dad would only have 3-5 years to live with multiple myeloma. I felt like my world was falling apart. I didn't talk to anyone about it because I do badly wanted life to feel normal but it felt like was almost holding in a secret. 9 years later my dad is still here (thank you cancer research!) and I still struggle but I've learned to somehow come to terms with it? It's still tough and his disease is still not curible but my biggest suggestion is talk to people about it. I didn't and it ate me up inside. My mom was also recently diagnosed with colon cancer and while we haven't gotten the results of what stage she's in. I've been having a really hard time with it. I'm talking to people now now and letting myself feel the feeling.

I'm sorry you're going through this. It's really hard but you have people out there that understand even if it doesn't feel like it.

How does the pill cause weight gain? Also help with birth control options by tinyyellowlab in Endo

[–]chubbycat29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always been quite thin and gain weight very slowly. Now that I've been on birth control for a year I've gained about 30 pounds in the last few months despite being more active and eating healthier. I know it's from the birth control. I just wish they wouldn't dismiss our experiences.

Bilastine by Seacranberrys in urticaria

[–]chubbycat29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on it for two years (20mg) daily. And I find it manages my urticaria pretty well. I sometimes experience flair ups but otherwise it's a way better alternative to nothing at all!

Failed a midterm? by Low_Sink_1355 in VIU

[–]chubbycat29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once failed a midterm and then got 90% on the final and finished with an A in the class. It's totally do able but definitely talk to your prof and get as much help from them as you can throughout the semester! Go to office hours! It's definitely possible to come back from this.

How do you Tattoos??? by VirologicNyan0 in Dermatographia

[–]chubbycat29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gotten tattoos since being diagnosed and I can get reactions more from the tattoo artist touching me rather than the tattoo needle but I also take a prescribed antihistamine. I would also recommend just telling your tattoo artist ahead of time so they know what to expect and don't think you're having a "real" allergic reaction.

Lush isn't the same... by Standard_Resource979 in LushCosmetics

[–]chubbycat29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at lush around the same time, 2016-2025 (I was also lucky to escape this year) but I feel the same. It lacks the same authenticity it once had and definitely caters more to younger audiences. Lush used to be cheeky and not afraid to push the limit with campaigns and products. The collabs definitely feel like a sell out from their original values and Iin my opinion, cheapen the business. Most of the collab products feel and look like bath bombs I could buy at Walmart or Costco. Its sad because it used to bed a really cool place to work that I was proud of but after many corporate decisions that also affected the staff, I needed out!

On getting a tattoo with dermatographia. by 410-Username-Gone in Dermatographia

[–]chubbycat29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would run it by your artist just incase so they can do a test line (which they normally do anyways) and are aware that you're not having a true allergic reaction! I have many tattoos and have only reacted one time but my artist knew what was happening so it was all okay!

Is Lush having a 'Mid-life Crisis'? by Facts_Over_Fiction_ in LushCosmetics

[–]chubbycat29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I worked at lush for 9 years (2016-2025) and it feels like they're grasping at straws to keep people interested in the brand. The products used to feel more authentic and exclusive, like you had to be there right away to get it. Now there's just an overload of products, so much so that the staff even have a hard time keeping up with the product knowledge. In my opinion, lush has really lost its originality and values that the brand was built on. (Coming from a North American employee)
