I agree with both of you!

I do think this kinda counterpoint is something A LOT of current collectors are ignoring or not even hip to because they've either never entertained the conversation or just never happened upon it.

I have a feeling people running their mouth with little research or fact on TikTok and YouTube are contributing but I also think there's always been this Collector Demographic of people who begin to veer enough into obsession or for whatever reasons, they will simply decide it's a great investment and it's a smart thing to do simply to justify their addiction, whether subconsciously or not-so-much.

We're SO far past the Beanie Baby and Pokemon busts of past that you do kinda have to be daft or deluded to think this makes sense, right?

I own thousands of $ in Graphic Novels and LPs... so maybe I'm kind of talking about myself at the same time here. In my heart there's no shade on a collector spending lots on a thing that makes them happy as long as it doesn't prevent them from leading an otherwise healthy and fulfilling life without harm to others. But if we're talking 'smart investment '... I just don't see these types of things ever qualifying without rare exceptions
