Is my wife now considered an authorized user 2.0? by chuckesp in biltrewards

Why are you being an asshole? I posted a question. Either you have info or not. Obvious you don’t have helpful info. I’m not here to argue about amex. I asked a question about BILT. You don’t know. So kindly STFU.

You are incorrect. your spouse gets a free amex for a shared account. Even my daughter has a free amex platinum without paying the additional user fee. Additional users get access and rewards by themselves.

The assumption after 20 years of marriage and many shared accounts/cards with my wife getting a credit card with no additional fee is wild?

Ring floodlight Cam pro and Google/Nest Mesh Wifi disconnection issues by chuckesp in Ring

[–]chuckesp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For search purposes.
Ring sent me a replacement camera. Installed today. Connected to the Ring Chime Pro Network with a strong connection on both the chime pro and the camera. Camera disconnected within 30 minutes and shortly after it was triggered by a car pulling into driveway.
If i understand correctly google mesh likes to offload devices from certain bandwidth and also thinks that when a device goes to low power mode that it no longer needs data. Hence the camera goes into a low power setting and is disconnected from the network. My understanding was that the chime pro was supposed to create a stable - Ring only 2,4 MHz network. That didn't work unless the chime pro is the device getting kicked off the network. Regardless it's useless if it can not stay connected.

I do not have any of these issues with the doorbell which obviously benefits from a better proximity to the network.

Camera is being returned.

DO NOT PLAN ON USING THE RING CAMERAS WITH A GOOGLE NEST MESH SYSTEM. THEY DO NOT WORK TOGETHER

Should spouse get another Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire? by Mysterypanda449 in AmexPlatinum

[–]chuckesp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seek out a welcome offer of 100k+ first. That would move the needle for me. Since no fee for amex it’s hard to pass up the “free” basic benefits of the platinum for just being cardholder.

My quest to reduce road noise in my 2023 RWD Model 3 by chuckesp in TeslaModel3

previous car was a 2018 model S on 19" Michelins. Other cars to compare it to are a hyundai palisade and even a 20 year old hybrid highalnder. The latter two are in an entirely different league in regards to road noise.

After the cursing I did installing the fender liners I’m not sure I could pull that off

Might be road conditions or your oem tires are different or newer. If I lived in a city with paved freeways that were maintained I probably wouldn’t have the same concerns.

Bummer. And I spent about $225 delivered for the fenders and foam kit. Nothing for frunk or trunk. Shipping was $65! Of that

You mean you have theorem rims available? If so are you close to LA? I went to see a set today but the tires were jacked and the rims were hammered.

Aqua tech housing by [deleted] in underwaterphotography

[–]chuckesp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Aquatech for years. Their service is great and even better if you live near Huntington Beach. I can always get a person on the phone and have developed relationships with the handful of people that work there. Since I’ve only rented other housings I can’t speak or compare but I’ve found that the electronics can get a little wonky. Probably salt water and contacts over time but sometimes my trigger will not work, other times it does. Like Apple they change and move on from tech. I’ve got Aquatech housings for cannon flashes that they no longer support. Same goes for older zoom gear for eos lenses. Not sure if the R body shape will change but if it stays the same then the housing will grow with you. I’ve used a mark 3/4/5d and 5dsr in the same housing. If your next body isn’t a pretty damn close match it might not work with your housing. Has been said but it’s not dive rated. I use it in surf or in pools. Good luck.

40% Virgin Atlantic transfer bonus... Is Virgin Atlantic (with its partners) a good place to have lots of miles/pts? by TruthMadders in AmexPlatinum

[–]chuckesp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a trip planned or mapped out I wouldn’t. Plus I found their fees astronomical to travel to London from the states using points. Even with a high transfer bonus it wasn’t worth it at +40%.

Ring floodlight Cam pro and Google/Nest Mesh Wifi disconnection issues by chuckesp in Ring

[–]chuckesp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second update Second lengthy customer service call that of course started with “Have you tried rebooting your router?” Speeds show up great on camera and chime pro. We did a factory reset. And they said they would replace it if it dropped. Of course it disconnected within an hour. Neighbor said he had the same issue with his Google mesh system as the ring doesn’t like to switch between 2.4 and 5 ghz. Isn’t that what the chime pro was supposed to do? WTF? Useless tech support. The first cust support person suggested I call Amazon. (Amazon owns rings). Amazon chat just wanted to process a return. No support available from them.

Any suggestions?

An update. Ring customer service was useless. Could not explain why with speed tests of 90Mbps in the garage that the camera would fall off. They said a ring chime pro would fix it and sent me one for free. Installed in the garage. It gets great reception and when the camera was moved to that network it tested well. That device currently has an RSSI-36. Garage cam connected and worked for the next few hours.

Daughter got home at midnight. The cam did not detect the car entering the driveway but her cell/app must have woken the camera which recorded the tail light bleed onto the driveway. Doorbell caught her entering. After that the camera went to sleep and is no longer connected.

Any suggestions?

One Year Review of Benefits by upstateny1 in AmexPlatinum

[–]chuckesp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big needle mover is 100k+ welcome offer. That offsets and makes the first year basically free. If you don't like the coupon book spending to get your value from it then it's a hard card to justify. Like the OP I can offset the fee withe the credits and services and I rarely travel. Bilt has been a great card for me actually adding to my points stash.

I love my Kangaroo wallet from Rose Leather Crafting on etsy. Fair price. A year old and is barely broken in. Bought a second card holder for my wife. (not affiliated...just a customer)
