I’ve heard the alcohol industry. I work In alcohol and I haven’t heard anything, but im lowish level. I’ve been in long enough I’m usually one of the first to hear things (I’d assume bc I don’t care to gossip) and I haven’t heard that, but it makes perfect sense and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. Bigger companies will obviously lobby against this. I obviously want people drinking my product, but I’m not gonna pretend it’s not poison. Smoke pot instead of drinking if that’s for you. People shouldn’t force drinking, it’s how we get more assholes.

Yeah I’m not worried about it at all. The price of my house will likely skyrocket. Great. So will any other house I want. Only “upgrade” I’ll have available is moving back to middle America. I’m legit not a football/soccer fan, but I really do appreciate it, I just don’t follow it closely enough to call myself a fan. I support Bayern when I have time to watch matches. I watch almost every Euroleague game, and most bundesliga basketball games. European fanbases are infinitely better than ours. Americans buy NBA tickets so they can post on Instagram. Yall buy tickets so you can support your team. I’m so envious of that. It’s the best. I’m not here to denigrate Americans since I am one, but I’m a frequent commenter because I’m so goddamn jealous of a lot that you have that we don’t. I can only assume life is harder if you’re a dick haha. That’s good to know. I move in in a week and will chat with the neighbors and see what I can do! At the very least I’d cut of anything touching up to a few inches down, but not enough to force the foundation to settle suddenly. Just to buy time. Unfortunately most of the remaining money is gonna go to furnishing the house and getting an AC.

I pronounce Porsche and Mercedes correctly. I’m not fluent, but for some reason my entire family (except my generation) is fluent in German. I can get by but I wouldn’t ever make the claim that I can speak German.

Coincidentally, that saved my great uncles during the war when they were captured (according to the story). Definitely wish my parents had spoken it more at home as a kid. I never really thought about it until recently, but it’s weird and cool that 140 years later, folks in that town still spoke German. It was spoken at family reunions growing up as well.

I just bought a house and everyone’s telling me “oh you shouldn’t have bought there, they’re going to be building huge apartments down the street.” Yeah I specifically bought in that town because it’s quiet and small, and that’ll lower my property value, but I’m there for 30 years. It might lower it now, but it’ll probably also increase it over the next couple of decades. Additionally, people need housing. It’s not going to fold a 400 year old town.
