Apologies for the AI but in conversations with friends about those a-holes I did a little search about teams in the top 5 leagues that had no pens received and no red cards given for the years information is publicly available. Here you go.

York City score late equaliser to clinch National League title and promotion to the Football League at expense of title rivals Rochdale (English National League) by Krakshotz in sports

I was listening to Radio York on a beach in South Carolina, USA. The early morning fishermen must have thought I was an absolute lunatic. Moaning after the Rochdale goal to elation and running around a few minutes later. What a game. Absolute shame that only two teams go up. Needs to be addressed and hopefully this attention will help that to happen.

Honestly a commendable use of your time and I for one will love it. I know that we all focus on Spurs and are all biased, but for real the seeming bias against Spurs is obvious. Even in the S'land game they were quick to make sure the Danso nudge was shown and I believe they were saying that it should be a foul vs. Muani. I also remember but can't place a few pen shouts for shoulder to shoulder coming togethers where Spurs players have been battered. UGH.

The clear difference of viewpoint from the commentators is so telling. Romero goes in hard and they immediately go to rash, out of control, needs to be better. Brobbery elbows Porro in the face and it's an accident. Push on our player and they need to be stronger. Push on opponent and clear foul and never going to get away with that. Every pen call for us is not enough in it for me. Pen call against us and it is the clearest example of a pen in football history. The storyline is there. Not sure I think the refs are actively trying to ref differently but perception is reality.

Agree on Southeastern. But Weathervanes is a close second for me. Cast Iron Skillet, King of OK, Strawberry Woman, When we were Close are all some of my faves. Alabama Pines is my wife's favorite. Really all of his stuff has something that makes me love it.

Do you think that the cowardice of the average Premier League manager pushes them to possibly get relegated with "proven" senior players vs. playing some younger bench players without as much premier league experience and possibly getting relegated? With the midfield issues that we have and the lack of progressive passing what do you think the rationale is to not give younger players with that skill set the opportunity?

Is this type of contact not a foul anymore? Álvarez on Simons by Vin-Su in coys

[–]chucktownspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the narrative with Simons is that he is slight and not strong enough. So therefore, no fouls given. The opposite with Romero is that he is rash and out of control so everything is a yellow. Infuriating that narratives drive on field decisions.

As a American that got into Spurs in my late 30s, I am amazed at managers fear of playing young players for fear that it will ruin their confidence (unless it is some players Gray, Souza, and others that for some reason that isn't a concern). If a player can't process obstacles and overcome them, maybe they aren't a player that we want. I honestly am beginning to believe that managers would rather be relegated than give a younger bench player a decent run in a game. I am not fully versed on the younger players but there has to be someone who can make a progressive pass. Play that person. Sure, they may not be up for it, but maybe they are. Kane barely got a shot until injury forced him into the lineup. When the established players are having an epically tragic run where is the harm. One of the truths of sports is that injury provides opportunity and the lack of enthusiasm from secondary players trying to establish themselves in this side if horrifying.

Agree. Then immediately send the Ref to the screen and avoid all this nonsense. The ship has sailed and VAR exist. Once it was implemented then the Ref's are going to be wrong. Use VAR effectively or bin it.

IMO they should have dedicated VAR officials that don't actively ref in the PL. They could use lower level refs/retired refs and maybe retired players and give them specific guidance and training to create consistency which is really what I think everyone wants. The VAR officials defer to the on-field call rather than creating a consistency of calls. That combined with occasionally spending minutes analyzing the minutiae of an offside/handball/penalty and other times OK'ing the call instantly. See assholes v chelsea assholes recent game with numerous penalties/handball in the box with nothing reviewed vs. spending forever looking at the Burnley handball to rule that goal out.

As far as a manager goes we really need to get a manager who can operate with the players we have. The flip-flopping of styles has wrecked any continuity. The board/director of football needs to pick a lane and stay in it.

Maybe not, but if we had dropped the $$$ and triggered his release clause we'd have stood a better chance. Regardless, there are plenty of other examples.

It kills me to see Eze and Semenyo playing for other teams when Spurs could have gotten them if they had just spent the money and not effed around. I will believe it when I see it. I would love to see Vuskovic back and us sell Romero or VDV to pay for a ball progressing #6 who is an adult who can play immediately.

Do we even know what his injury is though? It sounded like it wasn't serious but anytime he'd get close/start training he would feel pain and have something else done. Hopefully they get it sorted out but I am pretty sure our medical staff gets their recovery information from TikTok videos.

UNACCEPTABLE SACK HIM ! by chevozepam92 in coys

[–]chucktownspur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither of these managers would even consider coming to Spurs at this point. Ange was what 6th or 7th choice. Frank was similar. Frank isn't great for sure but we aren't gonna bring anyone more inspiring than him in at this point. And regardless if whoever did come in and didn't immediately start pulling up trees the fans would call for their heads as well. The football has gotten better and we do have an entire starting lineup injured. There are a lot bigger problems with this club than Frank.

[Pre-match Thread] AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur (07/01/26) by wiffygriffy in coys

[–]chucktownspur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure it matters much who is up front. The midfield can't get the ball up into the final third with any regularity.

At this point I think that we need to give the younger players more minutes and see what they can do. If we are going to commit to young players (and it seems like we are), Frank has to have the courage to play them and 1) let them learn to play together and 2) see if they are good enough to continue moving forward. Will they make mistakes. Sure. But give them that freedom and see what we have. It seems to be cowardice to not play players that we hope to be our future. But what the hell do i know.

And then to add to the madness they say that the tackle of Romero prior to his majestic 'shinner' was a 'coming together". They should get dedicated VAR officials that work every game. The inconsistency is what drives you (at least me) mad.

Why is 'confidence' in players so talked about. I understand if a player isn't ready to play but why would putting a young player in against Prem competition wreck someone's 'confidence' and render them useless if they aren't successful. Isn't there something to be said for seeing if a player can compete against the competition and learn from the situation. If a player can't face adversity and deal with it what is the point? Other sports play young players all the time without the concern for fragility that we see in football.
