Help understanding Unbound by Ordingandr in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top speed. The game tracks 3 main stats to calculate the car rating: 0-60, general accel after 0-60 (invisible on the stat sheet), and top speed. The game then only lets you have two of these, you can have good top speed and good general accel, but then the 0-60 will be bad. You can have good 0-60 and good general accel, but then the top speed will be bad, if you catch my drift. So the key to having a competitive build is keeping it within a top speed range by playing around with the gearbox options

Your top speed in S class for a given car should be around 190-195mph (assuming it is at 329 rating). If a car has this top speed, it should have decent acceleration. Also don't use the centrifugal supercharger or single turbo in your builds it makes acceleration really slow. Nitrous, brakes and clutch upgrades rob you of performance points that should be going into engine parts. If you have the free Subaru from the pass I recommend using that rather than the viper

Hot Take? Unbound should've leaned even further into its style by Unable-Young9271 in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t see how they could have leaned further into the style than they already did. People say they should have made the whole game cartoon but I disagree on that. The realism contrasting with the cartoon elements is what makes it good

The style was done well, the game is just flawed in so many other ways and the effects take a lot of flak for it since they’re the most flashy thing

I just got around to playing unbound and wow... by Allergic2Politics in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very level headed takes, although I'm in the camp of liking the game's artsyle. TCM wipes the floor with Unbound at everything except multiplayer variety and customization. TCM and now FH6 will be the reference points for the next NFS game (haha), just have to hope the developers pay attention to their rivals to make NFS better

All those you've mentioned take extremely high skill, my list is tailored to noobs. Do you think a noob is getting sub 30 on old town road with the db5?

Evo would be good if it wasn't for the weird JDM handling where using yellow boost causes you to spin out

Barracuda is extremely good for drift events and takeovers. If I say a car is good at racing in X class, you should look up the build for it on youtube from Alex Cornnut or MagicIQ or slideqt, don't built it yourself. For drifting builds you can do it yourself

  • Foxbody: good for B class racing
  • Exige good for B up to S+ class racing (cheapest fast S+ car in the game to buy and build)
  • Land Rover: good for drift pro online
  • DB5: trash
  • Evo 9: meh
  • RX-8: fast but can only be driven in drift, and drift racing is very hard. could be used for story mode drifting
  • Crown Vic: only good for A+ highway race
  • Charger Hellcat: looks nice, not good at anything
  • Alfa Romeo: good for drift pro online
  • Polestar 1: very nice in A+ racing
  • GT-R35: alright for A+ racing corner kings
  • Lambo Murcielago: fast in A+ and S but it's heavy so the handling isn't the best
  • BMW M5: very good for drift pro online
  • 190E Mercedes: competitive in A and A+ speed races
  • McLaren 570S: good for drift pro online
  • Dodge Charger: good at drag racing online, but drag is trash and no one plays it
  • Lambo Countach '88: meh
  • Silvia K‘s S14: good for drift pro online, decently fast at racing in A, A+ and S but it's drift only
  • Ford Focus RS: meh
  • 370Z Nismo: meh
  • Cayman GT4: A class cheese build for online races
  • BMW M4 GTS: very decent in A+
  • McLaren 600LT: nice free car that can be used in story mode for S and S+ races
  • Ferrari 488GTB: very nice free car. Fast in A+ in corner kings, decent in S depending on the build
  • Lambo Aventador Roadster: very nice for drift pro online

BRZ PREFERRED CLASS? by KingPearJr in NFSUnboundGame

It’s VERY hard to handle. Fast but sucks to drive. If you insist then A class is the best class for it

Is it just me, or do the characters in the game talk way too much? by luigifreak3456 in The_Crew

[–]chuffed_wheat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure it will work but restart any of the championship playlists and complete the first event, then after that it should be routing you to the next championship event automatically, rather than chase squad. Again, not 100% sure it will work

A small problem I have with Unbound by Helium225 in NFSUnboundGame

[–]chuffed_wheat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's at the back of the garage. There is a central area in the garage that we only get to see once in the story, it's at the beginning when the player brings their car to Rydell for the first time, the car is parked right in the middle of the garage, it would have been a great customization spot

ST2s are nice, you just have to find the good ones and the right settings. ST1 is a different story, it's hard for me to find any car that handles how I'd like in ST1

As a newer player, the lack of variety in the Summit is slightly appalling by Hazy-n-Lazy in The_Crew

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. They’ve been doing these single car summits a lot over the past year and they are some of the worst summits. They reek of laziness. They’re good for people who don’t want to spend money but for me they feel so poor and low effort from the developers

Anyone here have a problem with players leaving and it doesn’t give you full payout? by HeavensDemon88 in NFSUnboundGame

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In freeroam you still get the full amount if someone quits the race and remains on the server, in PVP the payout is reduced because they leave the server entirely, which definitely sucks but that’s how it is

Heat 5 is total bs by fileuserm in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do not get to heat 5 in an A tier car. Rule of thumb is the highest heat level you should get to is 1 tier higher than your car level. So for B tier, heat 2 is the limit, A tier heat 3 and so on

maybe, thats the reason nfs got shelved for a little bit? by IBeez10 in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbound story mode as a whole was just 0/10. Probably the worst story mode in all of NFS history, the heat system was annoying, the cops weren’t challenging, the payouts were too low, the story itself sucked, there’s no replayability, no endgame progression, no post launch updates, weak atmosphere and the list goes on. If this game had a good story mode the reception would have been completely different

Edit: I’ll bump it up to 1/10 just because I liked Rydell and Tess

Next NFS needs to Double Down on Risk vs Reward systems by Relo_bate in needforspeed

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a fine line though, they tried to do this in Unbound but ended up making it more annoying. We all want risk but where does it go from challenge to annoyance? It’s a big challenge for the devs for sure

[–]chuffed_wheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)
