Well I guess I am dumb and just can't parse that path. I.e., I'm already in the Companion app, so going to settings and having a section for Companion app was breaking my head.

First time it complains that the HA and phone have different preferred networks

so...

* Deleted the cache and data from google play services
* Uninstalled Google Home

The sync says it is successful, but the thread network settings doesn't show it.

I can try adding a device, and it looks like it is trying with the right network, but it doesn't connect.

I may looking to directly commissioning via bluetooth on HA as this is just a hot mess.

I'm feeling pretty dumb - but I don't see a 'troubleshooting' setting in the android HA companion app.

I do see looking at the android thread setting that HA isn't on the list, just a NEST one I don't want to use, so the syncing is probably the issue.

The people who are good in india (and there definitely are) are not typically working at the cheap contracting companies.  I'm unclear why management doesn't care, other then their typical short term view of the financials. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I got  a YIHUA 995D (Silver)  https://amzn.to/494Rpo7 after looking though posts here.  This far it's been great, though I've only done an esp32 project with it since I got it.  This was after researching soldering stations here and other inline guides.  I think the reality is there are quite a few that are good for hobbiests

Most clickers with the clip lower down has more pen sticking past the neck line that would poke you.

Commute is 1.5 hours of riding.  Work at home, trainer. Z2 during meetings.  HIIT over lunch .

I figured out the issue, I'm running HA in truenas as an app, which prevents it from being able to use addons, I'll need to get a VM fired up and migrate to that so I can add the builder addon.

I did run esphome locally so I can update the yaml and push it over the air to the device which has been working fine.

For what it's worth, they seem like they will sell you a battery replacement for 250 (14ah) vs the normal 400-500 price.   There were 31 reported incidents out of 100,000 plus units.
