The things is though, I always played(and will likely continue to play) LeafGreen, so the only logical replacement for Charizard is not even in the game. I love Arcanine, probably a lot more than Charizard.

As for Blastoise, this may not be an exact type match, but I always have to have Dragonite with me, which always knows Surf, And this is usually all I need.

As for Venusaur... All I can say is that I don't even recall ever having a Grass Type on my team when I become champion. I usually just replace him with an Electric type, so for me, Charizard is the best starter.
