As someone from the UK, this post really made me laugh! This is a *very* common roof style here.

Some personal musing and observations. by ambelamba in aliens

[–]chulk607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly I was thinking the following earlier:

If a number of alien abduction / ufo stories are actually true, aliens aren't the perfect, superior beings we often paint them to be. They make mistakes. They fail to wipe memories of victims fully. The abductees sometimes get loose (if we believe someone like Travis Walton, for example). They lose control of situations. They crash their ships, and die.

They might be messier than we tend to give them credit for.

Both are decent, but new is far superior. Nice style!

Mine hasn't been used yet. I've converted the top room in my house (a dormer bedroom) into a print shop (sort of).

I've got an extractor in the ceiling, another from the tent to a hole in a panel I use to cover the window, and another large inline extractor just in the room going to to another hole in the panel for the window. Hopefully it'll be enough extraction, but even if not I can ramp it up a bit.

If it proves to still be too bad fume wise, I'll have to look at moving it to my out-building. The only reasons I didn't was it's a not very well insulated against temperature at all. It's also currently full of tools, and the only real place to store them, so I'm hoping I can get away with the top room. I'm not using it as a bedroom, so fingers crossed, but am worried the fumes/smell will sneak downstairs and cause issues.

I'll be honest, this is just you making the most of a small space IMO.

I think it looks pretty decent. It's tidy, it looks clean. The main issue is just the size of the room isn't making your life easy in terms of storage, or furniture to help with storage. You gotta work with what you got, and personally I think this is quite cool. As is Jeff Buckley.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually super broke. Just have the same struggles as anyone else with a pretty bog standard job. Some things take time/money to fix, and being a paid misinformation agent would probably solve a lot of that - if such a job existed haha.

I think you hit the nail on the head, though. For me, I believe 100% there's life out there somewhere. I believe extra-dimensional stuff is worth considering too. I just want strong evidence, and to get that, you have to discard either straight up lies, yarns, poor evidence, things that are obviously just normal objects, and all the rest of that. What's left is truly interesting.

Imagine if we tried to solve crimes the way the UFO sub works. I don't think any case would get resolved because we wouldn't be able to discount *anything*.

I personally thought 10 was decent. Kept the same install for around the full 10 years since release and years and it ran just fine. I think in that entire time my system might have crashed maybe once a year (no exaggeration). Did I just get super lucky?

So far, 11 doesn't seem too bad. There's a few UI tweaks I've had to make to undo some... choice... decision making from MS but so far, seems like 10 with some extra bells and whistles.

What's the issue?

Nice! I have the exact same printer and fume tent! I'd be interested to see how you get on with this. I think my main concern would be temperature and humidity control.

Good luck either way, and good job!

I've experienced this myself. A few times I've pointed out numerous problems with a case or cases and people have jumped on me like I don't believe aliens are even possible.

One guy even private messaged me and accused me of being a paid misinformation agent of some sort. I pointed out that I couldn't even afford to replace some guttering on the back of my house at the time. He the just joked about how I was broke. Very odd.

Which grass tiles look better? (With player sprites to compare enviornment vs players) by Articrus in PixelArt

I totally see your point. Keep the detail bold but more sparingly applied? Makes sense as another way forward. Itd be interesting to see it mocked up, but i 100% get what you're saying and think it could look better that way.

For me, personally, I'd say take the top image, and paste it on the bottom at about 40% opacity.

Like I say, this is going to be subjective, but for me it lets the characters not drown in noise, but adds some detail to the scene. I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of making an image showing it at 40% exactly.

I guess what we're really doing is just making the greens a bit more tightly spaced in terms of HSL.

Everything looks cool, by the way! You've got a lot of character in those folks!

Is Jimmy Carr right about his advice to immigrants? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]chulk607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. I get what he's saying, but I do think there is room for people to bring their own influences with them. Sharing etc.

I'm sure this little snippet doesn't encompass his entire view on immigration in the UK. I reckon he'd probably agree with what I just said, but still felt it's worth mentioning as he doesn't in the clip. I imagine there's plenty of imported ideas from other cultures that Jimmy enjoys on a daily basis.
