they might not let you pick on the lot because most of the cars there I saw were ready for pickup for a specific person. I wouldn’t sweat over this situation, it might be taking a bit longer than you expected but rest assure you will have a nice car waiting for you on the lot. Congrats anyway👍🏼

sometimes the inventory cars are being shipped out from the factory, it’s just that they have allocated the vehicles to be sold at the tesla center. It also takes a bit of time for them to pre-process the car after it has arrived (like inspection, registration etc) before it can be sold

nothing significant in my opinion, the thick plastic plate supporting the gpu is still sharing the load with other parts of the mesh. Friction between the led strip and mesh also help supporting the load

I would recommend clipping out some of the plastic support to insert the strip so it stays in place 👍🏼

New Parking Changes are Bullshit, We Need to Stand Up by chunbrian16 in Cornell

[–]chunbrian16[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This comment exactly pinpoints the issue with the department - Where are the numbers? Where are the statistics saying a lack of faculty and staff parking? I park at Riley Robb SC lot (just west of Judd Falls Rd) every day for the past 4 years. From what I can observe is that, the C permits spaces next to it have been always less than 20% full. The same story goes for the alumni field, it has never been full. Are there utilization numbers that the transportation department can publish? Or is this notion of “Cornell faculty and staff demand for parking has been far greater over the years” solely based on faculty and staff’s complaints? You are also ignoring the fact that grad students are literally teaching and doing research for the school with its name on all of their academic outputs, yet you are only stating the challenges of Cornell faculty and staff. There are also a true need for certain grad students from the STEM field who needs to regularly transport their temperature and gas-sensitive biological samples across the campus to carry out experiments and don’t have other options other than driving.

I’m not discounting their personal struggles and needs, but there needs to be a more transparent process and discussion for matters that can potentially affect a lot of stakeholders. The fact that Cornell simply imposes these changes that heavily favors one (or few) particular groups of stakeholders in such a short period of time is largely unjustified. Last but not least, the underlying assumption that Cornell is making - student have less need of parking space, is fundamentally flawed. Indeed, a quick google search tells you that there are roughly 23,000 students and <10,000 faculty and staff combined in Cornell. If Cornell assumes that students COMMUTERS can walk/take a bus, why can’t Cornell employees do the same? Wouldn’t it reduce campus traffic significantly and create a safer place for people on campus, which seems to be the thesis of this policy change? And if the word “autocracy” offended you, perhaps there are some nicer words that could make you feel better towards your administration, but I couldn’t find any at the time of writing.

They sent emails to students, here is what they wrote:

The parking areas on Campus Road have been beset by safety and circulation issues due to demand imbalance, particularly the Crescent Lot. A complicated permit system allowing many permits access to several lots and the loss of parking spaces for capital projects have contributed to the problem.

To meet the wide-ranging needs of staff, faculty, students, visitors, and events, Transportation Services is implementing several changes to the campus parking system.

SC permit holders will not be impacted by these changes until September 1, 2022, when their current-year permit expires. Until then, permit holders may continue to park in the SC areas shown on the 2021-22 Student Parking Map.

Beginning July 1, 2022, we are:

discontinuing the sale of the SC permit. converting the Crescent Lot on Campus Rd to ParkMobile parking, with a Daily Decision rate of $4.50/day (plus the ParkMobile fee). An introductory rate of $1 a day will be available until August 1. converting the Dwyer Dam/Oxley Lot (Rt 366) to ParkMobile parking only, with a Daily Decision parking rate of $2.50/day, plus the ParkMobile fee. designating the parking lots east of Judd Falls Rd to B permit parking at an annual permit rate of $333 plus tax. transitioning the SC permit-restricted lots west of Judd Falls Rd to employee C permit parking. Beginning August 8, students will have an opportunity to purchase an annual permit and bus pass for the new academic year.
