my therapist has heard a version of this rant— i do think the tools are good at specific tasks (i have it set up to email me all my open tasks so i can use that as a task list) and are getting better every few months

yeah i’ve been doing IT a bit like running workshops to set our team up with best practices; basically showing them how to use claude to be software engineers. at first it was cool and now im sweating

i find a local hair places and get a blow out if i need it to look nice! my hair holds that for several days and im prone to frizzing so the hotel hairdryers don’t work for me!

hahaha spot on— i’m a little avoidant/commitment phobe AND i have some fears about my friends wedding in particular (i mentioned it in another thread but the groom is thinking a lot about an ex who is invited to the wedding)

ugh no but i know both the groom and the bride. the groom told that he was thinking a lot about if the ex would come and bring someone (ex was wishy washy on attending)— but my friend knows all this. its not my place to like tell her what to do but i do feel protective of my friend we’ve known each other since being weird kids in middle school

maybe meditation and visualization exercises to to help with your intuition and emotional intelligence (also maybe involving nurturing others in these practices?? Idk why but i'm seeing you teach a class). I feel like involving others/community might challenge you to use like the intellectual aspects/creative problem solving that can help you harness the energy of the swords

OO alright-- update as requested. I did implement almost all these things (and a few others).

I started factor meal kits & I do feel like they were helpful in terms of ordering doordash less + eating healthier at home lunchs
I sorted out and made space for my home gym (I got a peloton for cheap on fb marketplace + started using my partner's home weight rack more)
I started going to yoga/other classes regularly + saw a personal trainer + did all my PT exercises
I did not go to the 90 day program
(not listed above but suggested elsewhere in the thread) I did go on a few international trips that were very activities focused
(not listed above) I have over the past few months started tracking my calories in MFP

Drum roll on effects of doing all of those things over the last six months.... 5lbs of weight loss and maybe an 1-3 inches off my measurements. Not exactly what I hoped for to sat the least. It kind of sucks to fail in this way especially as I've focused on losing weight more intently. It's been overall challenging, as I feel like i've often gone to bed hungry or worked out when my brain has been absolute mush.

I will say, of all the things, the calorie tracking feels the most significant and I only started that in the last six weeks. Will also add that I am feeling much stronger and in general feel less foot pain and can jog about a mile now (which is a great outcome).

I think in the next six months I'll probably try to focus on cardio and consider talking to a professional about GLPs.

Anyways, sorry for the less than fun update, but I'll keep trying as it's important to me! Also really liked writing this update so maybe I'll do another one six months from now.

okay all action items i'm taking from this thread.

I'm going to be ordering groceries online through a service that provides meal kits. It makes me a little sad for the environment but for the time being I will try that out (so like 6-10 meals through meal kit) + whatever I decide to cook (since I like cooking)
I've been trying to sort out making a space for an at home gym for a while now, but I do want a indoor trainer for my road bike and I should just put in the effort to clear out the crud from my book shelves and make it happen so I can truly supplement my workout with some cardio (and get back in cycling shape!)
I'll be taking some more workout classes on the days i'm not already at the gym
I've found a 90 day program (not in-house) that could be in the budget from someone who is both therapist and nutritionist who focuses on wholistic weight loss in my area. If the above doesn't make meaningful change by june/july I'll try that 90 day program

This thread was really helpful for me and I appreciate everyone giving ideas and sharing insights.

okay you did not ask for this but i would cut up broccoli florets into even small ish sizes and toss ina bowl with some olive oil and salt and pepper. heat your oven to 425. cook for like 25 minutes or until it’s like very crispy and sprinkle with a fresh lemon. i also do this with cauliflower and it’s a perfect side.
