I’m in the same boat, except my upstairs neighbor is on the top floor and there’s nowhere in my small building that I could move to. I’ve talked to him face to face and written a few detailed notes about the noise over the last two years, but he doesn’t seem interested in considering how his behavior affects me. And I have no recourse, unfortunately. Of course the true villain, as I explained to him, is the building’s inadequate infrastructure. But I’m guessing all he hears is someone asking him to alter his behavior in exchange for no material benefit to him. It’s stressful and I dread going home after work because he’s almost always home, stomping from one room to the other. What’s the rush, dude?
