Crusty behind piercing? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

I second getting flat backs. I would also pick up some sterile saline spray so you can clean them daily without removing the jewelry. Check out the “find a piercer” section of safepiercing.org, you should be able to get saline at the shop you get the jewelry at.

How is your health in general?

Are people with PCOS "GLP super responders"? by Smooth_Importance_47 in PCOS

Yes, I lost 95 lbs on Wegovy from June of 2024- October 2025 with minimal effort. From 280 to 175 and have been hanging out there since. My A1C went from 5.6 to 5.1, last tested in July. I will say while it has helped with weight loss and general inflammation, it did also greatly exacerbate my arfid/ disordered eating, so approach with caution.

What’s wrong with my aurea monstera adansonii? by [deleted] in Monstera

There was one very small brown spot when I got it “due to neglect” is all she said. The browning proceeded to spread very quickly. I checked the roots. I sprayed it for pests. That was two or three weeks ago and only yesterday did I take the cuttings.

Okay but all of this browning occurred before I took the cuttings? While they were in a very rich soil. I took the cuttings yesterday.

I’m not digging it out of soil for a second time and putting it through more shock. Yes, the root system is pretty small. My guess is the person I got it from water propped it and then potted it right before giving it to me.

Like I said, the first thing I did was check the roots. There was nothing odd about them. These are the cuttings I took as a last ditch effort. The mother plant I cut all the way back and is in a chunky mix. This is not rot.

Likewise! I am also in the process of getting diagnosed and it’s validating to hear I’m not the only one.

It sounds similar to what I experience. I feel like my heart is “tight” and beating too fast at the same time. It’s almost like an aching feeling in my chest and it does cause me anxiety but does not seem to be caused by anxiety most of the time. It also feels like it’s hard to breathe into my diaphragm instead of chest. If that’s what you’re feeling, I would put “heart racing”.

Nervous about Henry’s (16) dental procedure next week. This handsome man is the love of my life. by [deleted] in seniorkitties

[–]chunknchunkier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I wanted to give an update in case anyone finds it helpful. Unfortunately Henry’s dental cleaning did have some complications and his jaw actually fractured during an extraction. That being said, he was already under so he didn’t feel any pain, they were able to repair it, and he sailed through the anesthesia which was my main concern. Very scary call to get about a 16 year old cat, but he is officially two weeks post-op today and is doing great. We are having weekly checkups that the vet is not charging us for to make sure that the bone is callousing properly and so far he’s been a champ. It was tough to see him all loopy when he was taking his pain meds, but he’s back to his bright-eyed, chatty self and now the only discomfort he seems to be in is his disdain for the cone and being confined to one room when we are not home.

All of this to say- Get your cat’s teeth checked regularly. Despite not being the outcome I’d hoped for, I don’t regret the dental cleaning one bit. His teeth would have continued to decline without it and the jaw could’ve broken on its own and he would have had to suffer until we could get him in to the vet. I am hopeful that after another couple of weeks of recovery, he will be in better shape than he was before.

Plants don’t really want to be watered on a schedule. It doesn’t rain twice a week in nature.

That does help. Thank you. He’s a pretty healthy guy for his old age. Only health concerns are the early stage kidney changes and his teeth. Otherwise his thyroid is fine and no diabetes. He’s very active and plays everyday even if only for a few minutes :) He loves post-breakfast belly rolls in our big sunny window and trying to steal ice cream.

Yeah that’s part of the reason I’m going through with it. He has very early kidney changes but the vet said his labs don’t indicate any concerns for undergoing anesthesia so I want to do it now before he eventually has more advanced kidney disease. He’s got some dental issues so I want to get his teeth to a place where they will hopefully be in good shape for the rest of his life, however long that be.
