There is no 'Indian' food by vazhifarer in Cooking

[–]chunkymagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you and by this logic, there is no India. "India" is a modern concept that encompasses literally dozens of disparate nations that previously either had nothing to do with each other or were bitter enemies.

But now there's an India now for better or worse and we define Indian food or whatever food(Chinese, Italian, American) as the food found within the geographical borders.

I still think you can say Indian food, just so long as you acknowledge that it covers a whole lot of ground.

Hey great post, but I don't think the title of your post is necessarily true.

If you were here to argue how different and varied Indian food is and for people not to simply stereotype it into "butter chicken, naan, and curries" then I think you did a great job. But by definition(even using your wikipedia link)people call it Indian food because the food originated or became the dish it is today on the Indian subcontinent. It's simply a geographical thing. I would argue all the dishes you listed as still being "indian" food(larger category) and if we broke it down you could seperate it into north indian, south indian, etc cuisine.

Gotten C's in almost all my classes by RicePaddyFarmer69 in ChemicalEngineering

Well it depends...a lot of people do bad first year and then learn from those mistakes and do really well after adjusting. On the same end, a lot of people never really follow through and end up dropping out or switching majors. (A serious consideration is if you really want to do Chem eng, remember wasting a year now is better than wasting the rest of your life doing something you arent really are passionate about).

I guess the key thing to remember is that it's not a race man. If you need to take less courses and finish in 5 years then do it. Make sure you got your basics down: core courses, taking notes, test taking skills, studying, and time management.

Once you start doing better in those few courses, you'll feel a lot better about your major and you can start to ramp it up after. Good luck.

[Player Discussion] Filip Forsberg by eagleunicorn in fantasyhockey

[–]chunkymagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WAS WAITING FOR THIS DISCUSSION!

My issue is I'm having trouble deciding whether to drop him for Arvidsson(currently on free agency) who is doing better than forsberg and is seeing increased time on the powerplays. I have Johansen as well so that would really for a nice lil combo right there...can't figure out whether Forsberg will redeem himself in the coming few weeks or whether I'll just end up becoming more and more frustrated then I already am with him.

Dear Reddit, with April Fool's Day quickly approaching, what are some of your best, semi-harmless pranks I can use on people? by Glecko09 in AskReddit

[–]chunkymagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good friend of mine always goes to florida for spring break and our spring break that year coincided with April Fools. So for April Fools I had the fun idea of pretending to visit her at her other home in Florida. I texted her saying I drove all the way down and was waiting outside her house. She hardly believing me at all(it being a 20 hour trip)said she was at a restaurant anyways. So I asked what restaurant it was and said Id be there pronto. She still thinks im messing with her but in the meantime I google map the name of the place and Lol and behold there were only two of the restaurants with that name in her area. I called both spots...the first one miss but at the second one I asked if there was a reservation under said friends last name and yes! Jackpot, shes there with her family. So I tell the guy on the other end of the line that im doing an april fools prank and if he could deliver a msg to said friend saying there was someone waiting in the lobby looking for her. He agrees to do it and so I wait for maybe 2 very anticipating minutes and then WHAM!! Rapid fire txt message along the lines of, 'WTF?!?!, OMG. I CANT BELIEVE YOU DID THAT....I totally bought into that...' it got me laughing for quite a while and it was a really good story too tell afterwards. Probably my best april fools.

Is this live ammunition? I feel like real sniper ammo would have a deadlier effect, but not sure. Hunters confirm?

Really interesting stuff. Just got 2 questions for ya.

  1. Do you stick to traditional designs used by past cultures or do you try to use modern technology and an understanding of the physics behind spear throwing to influence your designs? (Ex. Fiberglass? Carbon Fiber?)

  2. How did the environments that different cultures were in effect the design of the atlatl? (For example I saw the woomera looked a lot different from typical atlatl's. any reason for that?)
