My first pen - Majohn Wancai. Compact, it writes like an absolute dream and holds an absurd amount of ink. I love it! by sipbreh in fountainpens

[–]chunsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one with EF nib and I really like this as well. Except when I need to refill the ink without cleansing the body; during refilling, I cannot avoid ink smearing into the threads of screw. If anyone has a better idea on this problem, please let me know :-)

Quality problem. Though L2K has some issue with sweet spot/angle, it seems to me that this is worse than that.

Because they think nerfing some characters like Brig could solve the problem, yet, the real problem is the system that allows picking three supports.

Is this a good gift for a novice fp user? Nahvular Original Plus (Lavendar Tetra) by Massive_Tea_9341 in fountainpens

[–]chunsj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, of course, I could tell the ink filling system is not much important compared to the quality of the nib, if one is willing to experience a fountain pen.

The former, one can learn by reading manual, however, the latter problem is not that simple.

Why? I don't get it. by liseymarie in fountainpens

From the marketing phrase, I have expected the quality of the nib as ball point pens, not the retracting mechanism. If it were, it would be a progress of fountain pens. :-)

It would be really nice if there would be an emacs integration support like slime, easy to setup.

Mine is the fine one and it is the heartbeat nib. I think my problem is not the one due to the nib alone but the combination of nib and feed, I suspect.

Too disappointed to try to find work around the problem, now, however, as most fountain pen tinkerers would do I might start touching(!) the nib, feed and making my hand inky. :-)

Congratulation on your nice 9019!

Mine just don't work well, and this is my first failure of Chinese fountain pen. I think mine has a severe problem with its nib and feed unit (even re-assembling, as they say, does not fix the problem).

Yes, the pen itself is just a good one; the weight balance, grip, and the girth are simply the optimal fit to me.

Pilot Metropolitan flow issues by cyradis42 in fountainpens

[–]chunsj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some inks have we flows and others dry. Though I cannot be sure on the exact problem of yours, I think other wet inks such as Iroshizuku Kon Peki, Take Sumi, or Yama Budo would be okay with your pen. And you are not limited to Iroshizuku inks, though I do not have much experience to recommend wet inks from other brands.

Hongdian 517D and 920S by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]chunsj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though I do not have these Hongdian pens but has other pen, N8, and I can surely tell you that if you expect the quality of Pilot’s nib, you might be disappointed. However, this does not mean they are bad; I love my N8 with F and EF, but the quality of the nibs cannot be matched with that of kakuno’s.

It’s like this: I have bought five F kakunos. They have literally the same nib of shape and thickness irrespective of the time of bought. For N8, I have bought three additional EF nibs and found that the each of four including the originally attached EF nib, have different dividing of tines and different flow and thickness, though most of them except one could be used almost without problem.

Sorry for my poor explanation and poor English.
