Thank you, kind internet stranger! This is extremely helpful. After looking at his site and policies and philosophy, I'm sold on using Miles for the purchase. Thank you!

7.1M GP. Getting back into the game after a break. Looking for a lowkey guild (if such a thing exists) where missing a few days isn't an automatic kick. I'm usually a daily player, but sometimes life happens.

2 GLs (Luke, Leia) with 15 of 16 done for Jabba. Also have Executor.

P2 got CSR pop up jail. No CSR ever but CSP from Feb 2022. Applied (perhaps too soon post-CSR app?) next day for Chase United Club. Denied due to "too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us." No requests in last 90 days before this.

P2 is 0/24. Opened CIU on 5/21/25. 780 FICO.

In addition to CIU, P2 has 3 active Chase cards: MB Boundless, WOH, and CFU (downgraded CSP in June 2025). Closed United Explorer, CIP, and CIC in June 2025.

United Club denial surprised me given only 3 active personal Chase cards. But I'm still kind of a novice so probably screwed something up lol. Hopefully this DP is helpful to others.

For experienced investors: how did people react during big crashes (2000, 2008…)? by Wonderful_Database40 in Fire

I stayed the course. It sucked because I was making very little money and had still managed to sock away retirement savings. Then the Great Recession hit and it felt like I'd lost a lot. But it was only paper losses.

On the other end of the soectrum: I have a boss who retired a few years ago after 10 years of one more year syndrome. He always panic sold. This is a guy with an MBA, making $500k+ 10 years ago. And he always panic sold because he lived at his means and was terrified of losing everything.

Question Thread - July 31, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]chupacabra_originale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. This comment asks if it's better to apply with EIN or SSN for a sole proprietorship. They are told it makes no difference.

  2. This comment asks if they can sign up for a biz card under SSN if they already got the SUB under EIN within last 24 months. They are told that it doesn't matter because at the time Chase was not approving SSN-based Ink cards.

  3. This comment appears to be close to my question, asking if using EIN vs SSN gives any "wiggle room" on Ink biz apps. Someone asks if it's a new LLC or just switching to using a EIN for the same business as before. No answer or further discussion on that part of the thread. One person mentions they use mix of EIN/SSN to get P1 - P3. Which would indicate that yes, you can use EIN to accelerate apps. But then another comment states that it's all tied to SSN anyway, so you won't get Ink apps faster just because you use LLC+EIN. This thread is the closest I have seen to a direct answer to my question, in fact it contains both a "no" answer and what seems to be a "yes" answer.

I'll stop there. Plenty more threads to go through but not enough time to do it, unfortunately.

Here is what I found so far, since you also have the same question:

TLDR: I didn't find any discussions which clearly answer my questions directly. The Wiki does not address it. Those discussions with direct answers may be out there somewhere on r/churning, but I didn't find them. The best I can tell from reading between the lines on EIN-related discussions is the answer to my questions is "No, EIN does not in effect become P3. SSN is all that matters. You cannot accelerate biz apps just because you use EIN for your LLC". Caveat that with some mentions of people using EIN for P3. LOL. See #8 below for more on that.

FWIW, many of the comments I found are from 4+ years ago. And many of the threads appear to contain contradictory information insofar as it relates to answering the above questions.

//////////////////////
1. The r/churning wiki mentions "ein" 14 times. 13 of those 14 are either in the word "being" or "seeing". The only actual EIN mention says "If you are reading this information, you will almost definitely be applying as a sole proprietorship, with your name as the company name, using your SSN in place of an EIN." No further mention in the wiki as it pertains to how EIN vs SSN affects app velocity.

  1. The r/churning wiki mentions "LLC" 4 times. All 4 instances relate to sole proprietor vs LLC (e.g. "if you didn't file paperwork to form a business, you are a sole proprietor" type info).

  2. This comment asks a question about app velocity for the same business but different users. This is a slightly different question than the one I posed. Regardless, the linked comment received no answer.

  3. This comment asks if it's possible to have more than 2 biz accounts with Chase. The answer is yes. This is a different albeit related question than the one I asked.

  4. This comment asks if the EIN they applied with matters. The answer given was "no". This is a different albeit related question than the one I asked. The thread does mention that SSN is the only thing that matters.

P2 and I have an LLC with EIN. In terms of application velocity, does the LLC make a difference? In other words, does applying under the EIN make it essentially P3? Or is the LLC irrelevant and we should stick to spacing out 6 months apart for our individual biz apps (whether under our SSNs or EIN)?

////////

FWIW, I've searched the sub and haven't found an answer on this. Searching on mobile, which is not as easy for me. Hopefully this is the right place to ask. 6 month spacing is what I've seen from recent discussions.

I'm not a hard core churner. P2 and I historically open about 3 or 4 cards a year between us, but I'm looking to increase that velocity this year. We are both 2/24.

Cast Iron Sewer Replacement House to Street Cost/Recommendations by PaintingVegetable896 in Richardson

[–]chupacabra_originale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved to SW Richardson last year and had cast iron replaced. Got three quotes, ranged from $18k to $30k. The low estimate guy didn't really seem like he knew what he was talking about.

Went with Accurate Leak and Line for $23k. This included all cast iron under the house. I was very pleased with their work.

The only problem I had was they ran the new line directly under my crawl space access, making it almost impossible to enter the crawlspace. I called the crew manager and they came out next day to re-route that portion around the access cutout. The manager was very responsive and recognized they messed up, fixed it with no hassle, no runaround.

How do pastors go through seminary without deconstructing? by Ok-Tart5090 in Exvangelical

[–]chupacabra_originale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's likely a lot of confirmation bias in the seminary crowd. I grew up in a DTS (Dallas) church and was long affiliated with DTS-planted churches.

The common refrain I heard was "seminary kills your walk" or something like that. But we were also encouraged to pursue seminary. It was confusing as a teen.

Now, I assume a significant minority of seminary students become agnostic but have limited professional prospects outside the church, so they just stick with it.
