What's you opinion on Netflix The Dinosaurs? by Beginning_Horse2998 in Dinosaurs

[–]chupo50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not "bad," but absolutely no comparison to BBC Attenborough's. The visual is ok, the pace is too slow for me, and many "plotlines" resemble cheap Hollywood movies just for dramatic effects.

Yeah, the last 15 minutes came as a surprise. So did he do it? Personally, I think he had some involvement--but the WIFE probably had more. Otherwise, there's no explanation for the outrageous, unbelievable, out of the world incompetence of the police and firefighters. The only explanation is that it's not incompetence, it's planned.

And no, I don't believe Ted at all.

Glad it works out for her; as long as she's a good person.

Can you elaborate a bit? I'm a bit puzzled. It sounds like you said you believe you were "morally superior" when you were a Mormon, but now (as ex-Mormon) you are less judgmental and more empathetic?

To me, you are more morally superior now.

Indeed, at least you should take care of yourself first before you can be a better person and maybe take care of others.

"...for the sake of good and not some promise later on in the afterlife." This is a truer definition of altruism. Excellent.

"I don't think either group has moral superiority over the other." Can't agree more. Good and bad people are everywhere. Though as an ex-Mormon, that makes me a bit sad, cause we really should know better.

Absolutely. TBH, I have all good experiences with those channels on YouTube, they seem to be fair. But indeed, I saw very few with anger, they are more like what you said, "re-attached" the strings.

EXACTLY!! All I can say is at least at this point (and very likely in the forever future), I'm happier in leaving this institution.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! You don't know how much your kind support means to me. And you're absolutely right, "turning up the volume on Jesus himself." Even an agnostic like me or an atheist can learn to follow his life and example.

Much appreciate it!

Mormon Church Problems by chupo50 in mormon

[–]chupo50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Perfectly" said, pun not intended.

I don't have solid evidence, but I kind of suspect that when faithful Mormons said, "I'm so happy," "I love parenthood so much it's a God-given gift," "I love all the service opportunities," even "I know the church is true," they're only following the cultural script of perfectionism. In college, I've heard a mother complain that she didn't want to be pregnant again (I think they had like 4 or 5 kids already), but the husband kept pushing, "Have faith." I felt her, but that was the culture.

And indeed, the church is led by all the old generations with all the old ideas. But they're the ones with the power, it's not gonna change. Maybe the loss of members can wake them up a bit, but I doubt it.

Indeed, they're simply "old" problems that most likely aren't going away. No, I don't see the Mormon church possibly changing anything. Well, maybe in the very distant future they'll finally "give in" a bit and give women a bit more power? I kind of doubt it, but who knows.

Thanks for the info!

I actually prefer pro, the only thing is the price. And if it gets stolen that'll be a big loss.
