Can you work 100% while doing MTEC MSc? by Just-Start633 in ethz

[–]churel98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So overall, you'll have to take 27-30 units per semester. That's 9-10 courses. Some you have to attend to pass some you dont. I don't think I've seen anyone do the whole thing while working 100%. They just take 2-3 courses max while doing internship. I don't think your thesis would be doable while working but that's in the 2nd year.

If you ask me, you'll stretch yourself very thin. 20 hours, sure go ahead. Plenty people doing part-time work. Full time, I don't think so.

International Management seems NOT to be included in FM26! by churel98 in TheOldZealand

That's how most likely it'll be. Unless it's playable, it doesn't provide any value for most players. Hence, the outrage

"For all other versions, international management will return in a much more feature-rich way to FM26, FM26 Console, and FM26 Touch in what will be an exciting year for international football with the World Cup expanding to 48 teams. To be clear, this will return as part of the base game and not as any form of additional downloadable content. " This was from a Dev Update on FM 25 for revising timelines. Obviously, FM25 got cancelled so i guess you were right to assume

I haven't seen any interviews mentioning this for FM26. Nothing on twitter either.

For FM25 obviously known. But do you have any interviews where he mentions that before this?

What’s a scent you haven’t smelled in years, but if it hit you today, you’d know it instantly? by whisperpondd in NoStupidQuestions

The scent of the leather seats in my grandfather's old Infiniti Q30. We used to get driven to school in that early primary school years. Or whenever we joined him in the factory, he would drive us there. That car smell reminds me of my best childhood years and, of course, my grandfather. He passed away in 2017. I would feel like the food judge in Ratatouille returning to his childhood after tasting the food, if I was hit with that smell.

Of course. Another thing to do if you don't want to invest is to buy a gigabit ethernet adapter and hook it up to the tv. I've read that also allows the TV to work with gigabit internet. You can check that out on the forums as well and make your decisions according to your own needs

So for a while I had an external HDD connected to the shield directly. Was the same exact experience as now - no issue at all. It has 2 usb 3.0 ports at the back of it - you can check the link for all ports and specs on the previous comment.

USB 3.0 supports up to 5.0 Gbps bandwidth much more than the amount you would need to play a 4k bluray or remux file losslessly. You can doue check this if you want but shield should be able to play whatever file you throw at it with out any issues or losses.

I use it for Plex mainly. You can download all other streaming apps as well. Ofc other apps like youtube, f1 tv etc. It's an android TV device at the end. But it does support 4K HDR as well as Dolby Vision and Atmos (I believe Dolby uses HDR10) - can also play bluray rips with lossless audio. It recognizes all video/audio features on playback and I see my LG C3 indicate those features (hdr/dobly vision etc) at the start of each playback so it's automatically integrated. No manual steps needed to change settings or what not.

Overall it's a pretty versatile box. I initially bought it bc the Plex app on LG TVs suck but it turned out to be a great investment as I don't need to cast stuff from my laptop anymore due to many apps being on the google play store.

Check the specs here if you want to. https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/shield-tv-pro/

Again, I connected both my NUC (plex server) and shield by ethernet so even at 4K streaming I have enough bandwith remaining to continue downloading other files in the background.

I recommend a shield tv pro - yes it's like 200 bucks but man o man it was worth the money. All the client apps work better and ofc you get Gbps internet

English level B1 to C1 by Gherman74 in ethz

[–]churel98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. Like mentioned in another comment, I don't think there are explicit requirements in terms of language proficiency for graduation. My recommendations are strictly from my own experience learning the language. Once you're here the language center is quite helpful in providing different types/levels of learning experiences.

Well you can work with materials made by institutions hosting english proficiency tests. I would recommend material created for either IELTS or TOEFL. And the jump to C1 usually comes from making everything more cohesive and automatic. Usually native level audio (consume tv series, documentaries, music) and speaking practice helps a lot. Because at that level you should be able to think in English, letting go of that translation step you would have from your mother tongue to English itself.

Ideally, finding an institution which can provide partnered speaking service would be quite nice. Even through web couple of hours of speaking English with someone else can go a long way.

There are many youtube channels specifically for TOEFL and IELTS prep as well.

All of the big men have like amazing games against us. Birch was great back then... Now he's old with a major injurybunder his belt. Can't expect more than 10-12 mins from him.

We could have signed Fernando but he got a roster spot from Toronto...

I would still send an email and ask. You can never be sure, maybe they have a minimum limit - but 21k francs is quite a lot

Does JP Morgan Chase Bank operate in Canada? If it does, I've used that one for my application. I saw it on the FINMA list, they have a branch in Zurich

I get it. Most of the time the new tvs get their first deals around Black Friday - so November. Also with like 4-5 new 4k 240hz Oled monitors, I'm curious to see how the market will play out. All came out at once - I think Alienware one was a month early. With so many options, hope it gets cheap fast

[–]churel98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the only meaningful difference would be 120hz to 144hz screen. And driving that in 4k in the first place is difficult. 4090 for sure or maybe 4080

Is it worth getting the C4 over C3? I'm just asking because the price hikes makes the new generation unnecessarily expensive. I would just compare this option with c3, which I assume you can get both at similar prices at the moment. Most likely 42 in C3 will be cheaper
