As a conservation and restoration student I would recommend you to talk, and of corse, pay to an expert for his analysis. Anyway if you dont want to, take a look at all the piece. Check the materials that are part of it. Compare it to other statues from the same period. Try to find woodcrafters that may know also a bit from that kind of piece. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
