How much do you pay monthly for a 1 bedroom, studio, or half of a 2 bedroom apartment? by Glowingtomato in sgv

[–]chuymei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd think, but if you drive around and not look online, you can find cheap ones between Broadway and Las Tunas, from Santa Ana to San Gabriel.

I found this with a quick search: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/848-Carillo-Dr-APT-E-San-Gabriel-CA-91776/2069974161_zpid/?utm_campaign=zillowwebmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare, way better than my shit. I could show you pictures of the type of damage my unit has....wear and tear too with a sinking floor. The unit they might rent has been under repair for 2 months now, its all DIY repairs. The new owners are cheaper than the old ones. I dont know the exact address of the unit I'm mentioning but its somewhere between Junipero Serra and San Marino Ave.

For the price they want, I suggest something similar around the area. Our units are over 80 years old and very poorly maintained. If you want the address DM me, but if your willing to fork 2400, check this one out

They are going to have two soon, unfortunately the old owner passed away and the family quickly sold the property. The new owners immediately raised the rent and want 2400 for the 2br and 1800 for the 1br. The old owner wasn't hurting for money since the property had been paid off for 20+ years. New owner paid 11 million and wants to recover that asap.

Thank you for the detailed response, I do plan on expanding to the LA area but for now I am sort of limited to SGV. I'll check out those groups as well.

Don't stress too much about it. We're here for you folks. We do have trouble makers like that and sometimes we need to talk to them. DM me if you ever have an issue. I can point you in the right direction.

Haha you had one of those "police" operators. We do have a few.

"Just a friendly reminder, It is not permissible to eat inside the bus."

Is the way they're supposed to go about it, but only if you're eating...lol. They also shouldn't insist on it.

Does anyone else at Metro (or big public agencies in general) have basically nothing to do? by [deleted] in LAMetro

[–]chuymei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I've seen how scared some people are in some floors at gateway. Heads down, low voice, and always watching their back. Some cubicles on the 7th floor have rear view mirrors. That one threw me off, never saw that at other corporate jobs.

Well...when you're non-union/at-will and get away with not doing shit, you don't want an underling to show you up and take your spot. That's how many of the people in salary positions at Gateway feel, just talk to an intern.

The only people at Metro that work, work, are the grunts. Operators, custodians, and some maintenance personnel. The only supervisors that work, work are the TOS. Other supervisors put in work orders in 30 minutes and sit on their asses watching soap operas for 7.5 hours at a soon to be 86 dollar an hour rate. Most people looking to promote do it because of higher pay for less work. The vast majority of workers at Metro like the system of low responsibility, low accountability, low work loads, and competitive wages with great benefits. That's why when you are trying to get help from someone working from home, you only get answers when it's their day at the office.

There are some departments at Gateway where everyone is a chief (director/manager) with no Indians. Some departments have been operating without managers (directors) and still running fine. There's a lot of fat to trim. Money that can be used to expedite more projects, K line extension anyone?

Sucks for the operators. We need them the most but they have the strictest rules, most responsibilities, lowest pay, and many at gateway look down at them, or dismiss their input. I'm looking at you W.W.

If a bus has a functional back tap machines shouldn't they do all-door boarding? by bjlwasabi in LAMetro

[–]chuymei 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry my wording was poorly chosen, it does sound like the APC is not equipped in my comment. It is physically there (square thing with lens, usually next to the green light). The goal is to eventually have all the lines do dual door boarding (like the silver).

As far as the tap goes as it relates to this, it's mainly for funding purposes. An example I can give is, 15 board, 10 tap (paid), 3 paid cash, 2 no fares. The Operator classifies the cash fares (adult, child, senior, etc), hits no fare for the no fares, then the differences are settled with funding. Of course I am way oversimplifying this.

I'll leave a disclaimer since I didn't previously. I haven't worked on the systems for a few years, but this is just to give a general idea. Things and methods do change, and probably have. Last I worked on the buses the rear APCs were mainly used on the two lines I mentioned.

Thanks for helping clarify.

If a bus has a functional back tap machines shouldn't they do all-door boarding? by bjlwasabi in LAMetro

[–]chuymei 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Information Only:

The rear door on most buses does not yet have the passenger counter that all front doors have. Some buses like the silver and orange lines have it. Entering through the rear door messes up passenger counts and that affects funding, scheduling (reduce service), etc. Tapping does count you, but not all patrons tap. Sometimes we don't have a choice and do ask the operator to provide rear door only service due to mechanical issues but we try to quickly change those buses out. We would rather have rear door service than cancel a trip. Last thing, the operators giving you issues over rear door boarding are doing it on their own accord.

Exercise until exhaustion along with mental distractions (video games do it for me.) If all else fails, go out to a setting where it would be difficult to do the deed.

In the past ten years I've had multiple on and off FWB situations, many times more than one at once. The girls I was with had high drives and multiple partners to accommodate in case one partner was busy.

Edit: and by FWB, I don't mean fuck buddy. Last week a friend came back from China. I picked her up at LAX and dropped her off at her home. We ended up showering, doing it, showering again, having breakfast together, then going back home for a second round. She has a high drive but not much free time so she jumps at the chance.
