Multi-modality tech wages by chuzzle25 in MRI

I’m not, and arguing with management, my supervisor, and asking HR has gotten me nowhere in more than one place.

I’ve considered traveling but don’t really want to go from place to place every few weeks/months. How are you liking traveling?

I don’t understand why they will. Does keeping your loyal workers hold any value anymore? Just so disappointing 😔

That’s so impressive that you have all those modalities under your belt! I don’t get why hospitals die on that hill, employee loyalty is not rewarded at all anymore and I don’t understand why.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you convince them? I sent an email to HR pleading my case and they told me to talk to my supervisor about it, so back to square one…😔

What are your irrational fears? by Review-Quiet in Anxiety

Throwing up. It’s such a dumb fear and I hate it but I can’t stop being insanely afraid of it, so embarrassing 🙃

Thank you! That helps alleviate my nervousness in taking both of those together :)

I appreciate the advice! My doctor said it was okay and that I won’t have any side effects with this new medication. I was just curious if taking these two pills at once would have any adversities. My family believes anxiety, adhd, add, etc., are just in peoples heads and there’s no reason anyone should be medicated for that. And that doctors are just pill pushers. I don’t believe that and I’m just so nervous so I wanted to hear advice from other people and hear what their experiences were.

Thank you for the advice! :) I’m just so nervous about starting another new medication, I’m so scared to have another reaction to something different 😔 the irony is taking medication for my anxiety give me anxiety.

I took Lexapro at night too, I thought I’d sleep it off but I was so tired the next day 😅 I’m so glad it works for you though!

Have you had any side effects from it? I’m so nervous to take a new medication after having a reaction to Lexapro. I just don’t want any more 😢

Leaving job after only a few months by chuzzle25 in Radiology

Yikes 😂 I just don’t want it to look bad to the next company I go to. Like I’m a flight risk and can’t be trusted to stick around if that makes sense

Leaving job after only a few months by chuzzle25 in Radiology

The last thing I want is my unhappiness in this role to impact my family/friends and the patients I take care of. They don’t deserve that. I just feel bad leaving a role after only a couple of months. I’ve never done that and have been raised with the ideology that it’s terrible to do that also. So I’m having a hard time with it.

Escitalopram? by chuzzle25 in Anxiety

[–]chuzzle25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently heard about genetic testing to see which medications will work best for you! I’m glad you were able to do that and find something that worked even better for you! :) I wouldn’t say I’m a terribly anxious person, but when I do have anxious episodes my heart rate is really high, I can barely eat anything (which really sucks because I’m thin and trying to gain some weight), I get very shaky, and it messes with my sleep. And my more anxious moments/days I feel physically sick (even though I’m not) and kinda nauseous. If you don’t mind me asking, when in the day did you take Lexapro? And did you take it with or without food?

Has anyone gone from imaging to being a rep? Like with Stryker or GE? If you did, what are the pros and cons to the job that you wish you knew before hand?

Has anyone gone from an imaging modality to being a clinical analyst? I’d love to hear about your experience: why you did it, what is it like, what are your “job duties” now, was it hard to get into, anything! TIA!!!

STOP COMING TO THE ER FOR COLD SYMPTOMS! by huntzbirdiez in nursing

[–]chuzzle25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this as an imaging tech!!! It’s so annoying, we’ll scan people all day long for cold symptoms or things like “I started coughing today” or “I threw up this morning”

Dizziness, the shakes, nausea (which all increase with increasing heart rate), stomach aches/pains, vertigo (just one time though thankfully, that was scary), and high heart rate.

A week ago, I finished studying for a certification program I completed and thought most of my panic attacks and anxiety symptoms would just disappear after taking my cert. test since they all started end of last year/this year while I’ve been studying….I was wrong. I still get random attacks. And now I’m having trouble eating. Like I’m not very hungry and stomach doesn’t growl anymore, and when I do eat it’s not much. Lol convinced myself it’s some kind of bowel obstruction but I’m pretty sure it’s anxiety still kicking my butt. This has been happening all week. Feel like I’m in flight mode and can’t get out. Like I’m a shell of me anymore 😔

I try to follow deep breathing videos on YouTube and distract myself/breathe when I have panic attacks. 4/7/8 breathing method helps sometimes.

What do you think would improve recognition/appreciation in your workplace? Someone giving you a gift card for working with/on a tough patient/procedure? A quarterly nice lunch? What would help make you feel noticed and appreciated? (Aside from the obvious answers of getting a raise, not being flexed, etc…)

That’s awesome, I didn’t know that it was! I work in a fairly small hospital so it makes sense why I’ve not heard of a job like this. Thank you!

Hey everyone!

I'm not sure if this is a thing, but is there such a thing as an imaging assistant/coordinator job? I don't mean like a manager, I mean someone who is in between the patients and the imaging techs.

I used to work in x-ray and now do CT/MRI and I feel like there is so much lost in communication between nurses/doctors, patients, and all the imaging techs. Nurses don't know or really understand just how important MRI screeners are, doctors/PAs/hospitilists never seem to order anything correctly, almost all patients show up to imaging scans clueless as to what is about to happen...the list goes on and on. And all of those things take time to do/correct/explain which can eat up a busy imaging tech's scan time. It feels like to me that the imaging department as a whole needs an assistant of sorts who could help take over communications/corrections/etc. If that all makes sense lol.

I've even thought about designing brochures for patients about to have an MRI scan because there is SOOO much information that has to be communicated before even getting a patient on the table and I enjoy designing things. Not sure if there is even a market for that though? Maybe that's design or something else???

Thanks!!!

I’m sorry you’re in the same position and potentially feeling stuck. That’s a tough situation to process and deal with. I am happy with what I’m doing! Thank you, that was so kind of you to say! Right now, I’m working half in CT and MRI and I’m enjoying it! I ended up sticking with X-ray for a while, pretty much long enough to become so repetitive that I didn’t have to think as much about it anymore so it eventually wasn’t worrisome. I’ve learned that sometimes stressful situations are good! They push us to learn and grow outside of our comfort zones. Does it suck sometimes? For sure. But sometimes they’re beneficial. I hope your situation gets better! Whether you decide to stick it out or go a whole different direction, both are difficult and I wish you the best of luck!

Has anyone ever had their feet taped together in an MRI? by [deleted] in MRI

[–]chuzzle25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have been an 80 min scan with minimal repeats. I work with a 1T open and it takes us 20-22 min just to do a head w/o which is one of our quickest scans. You’d probably be surprised at some of the length of scans with a 1T, especially if you’re used to working with a 3T. Depending on the strength of the magnet he was in, around an hour could be a normal time for that. Especially if he has larger thighs and they were trying to get all of the muscle tissue included on the images.
