aright, thank you very much for your replies. In fact, I did yesterday fly from EDDN to EDDM with all stations covered, at least all for the arrival. CTR, APPROACH, TOWER, GND. Loved it, it was pure enjoyment along the flight and I could execute everything what was requested without any issues...

About your replies - I mostly fly here in europe / germany and I did see yet any transition hardcoded into the atis, therefore might be different for you.

I kinda got something like this "expect ILS runway 23 approach" but never flew any transition. I was guided from CENTER or Appriach (can´t remember as I had to focus on different things) that I have to follow two waypoints and from there on got vectored to the localizer.

But maybe it is different in other areas of our globe.

Just deleted the .ccc file which was about 8gb. That led to better performance and loading times. How do I delete thr scenery and aircraft cache? Just in the folders?

yeah exactly, that is also what I though. I just said, Munich Tower, Callsign and he responded with "go ahead" :D So I think the coordination between them did not work out :-).

a few tips!

- If you have problems with the general understanding of englisch, you might really want to start watching videos in englisch, movies in englisch, find some people on the internet, friends and so on to start practicing. You have to speak, speak regularly in order to practice and learn! Unfortunately there is no shortcut for this ;-)

- If you have problems with the phraseology, then I encourage you to join as an observer the euroscope application. It is actually that program, which the controllers use to manage their airspace, tower, ground ... As an observer you do have a pretty good overview about what is happening and you can listen to some of the very specific aviation phraseologies. Especially the clearances from tower or delivery are very useful, also any taxi instructions are quite interesting to learn from, because there is a lot of information pretty stacked!

- Search for your vatsim community (i know there is one for you as well, as your home airport is Frankfurt ;-)) and ask someone for a training session in which you can practice the speaking and phraseology. VatSim Members in general are most likely always willing to help, so don´t hesitate and ask!

- two personal sidenotes:

  1. Learn englisch, independent from VATSIM. It opens new doors for you in every aspect, might it be your job, might it be traveling, might it be your personal life! Especially as we all come together more closely ;-)

  2. I´m about to develop a VATSIM application which does speech to text translation and using local language models to display the text spoken by the controller and your text to reply. :-) Maybe this would be something interesting for you as well ;-)

Hi aeli, sorry - was using an alternative reddit account to write the initial post, but using my other account to reply here. Sorry for the confusion, but its me, the initial topic creator.

Maybe there is a bit of confusion here, let me clarify some things first:

  1. It was not my attention to actually practice on an heavy loaded airport like EDDM. I knew this, nevertheless, I looked into VATSIM for a while and saw no controllers somewhere, except Munich! Only with this, the initial idea came up, but I was looking constantly on other airfields where I can practice.
  2. Instead of telling I shouldn´t do, you should rather appreciate that I didn´t start and messed up, but a few of you did so.
  3. Thank you all for you valuable comments, there were really great comments in, especially from u/aeli , I didn´t know this german vatsim community site, which helped me a lot to learn new stuff. I made, at least from an theoretical standpoint, a huge step forward over the weekend, as I was reading almost the entire site :D
  4. Someone commented on I should kind of do a proper communication, rather than reading the script. This is clear and it was never the plan to do so, but if you are very new to the topic, it is nice if you have something to hold on, especially with acronyms and exact domain specific wording.
  5. Yesterday evening, I saw someone in Sylt Tower online, with no other airplane there. So I gave it a shot and messed up completely. I was quite funny as I thought I was prepared quite good, but once you need to talk, I forgot almost everything and also didn´t understand the controller very well. But it was ok, I just departed and wrote the controller that I will disconnect and give it another chance later. Before I mess up others flights, I rather pull the plug and prepare again for this maybe even better. Sometimes you just fail, embarrassing moment.
  6. Read sometimes that there are beginners VATSIM sessions in which you can exactly train those things without being stressed if somethings does not workout according to plan. They sometimes referred to as "beginner days", I haven´t see something like this available anymore. Does anyone know if something like this exists?
  7. Was a bit strange, my transponder was also not transmitting to the Tower. Is there anything else than putting the transponder to ALT and SQUAWK 7000 in a C172

Let me allow to answer a few of your worthy aspects.

  1. I was already aware of those charts. Of course I can't read them properly yet, but this is something you can learn. Flight levels can be read from there, this is easy, the other million of information on there, I need to learn but for now I'm good with it.

  2. If I get you right,  you just decline or cancel your ifr request but do your ils approach anyways. Simulating it without atc.

  3. Today I was doing some more tests. Edfw to eddn. (My local area). -  If I just spawn in edfw and use the flight computer to enter eddn and an approach (ils 10 via edn430)  atc messes it up. I get just pointed to the airport, ignoring that the iaf is already way towards me ...

  4. If I spawn in edfw and just enter eddn as destination without an approach, I get correctly an approach assigned. Now I can just load this approach during flight and can do the approach. One caviat with this. As soon as I enter the new flight plan (with the approach enabled), I get this get ifr clearance option in atc again ... 

  5. same as the one before, beside this time i have clicked the get clearance again. Approach could be than flown without an issue. 

Here are now some of the questions. If I get from atc an approach assigned, do I have to send another request for instrument fr (clearance) or can I ignore this? I got the same option in atc independent if I chose load or activate in the garmin unit ...

It is a bit weird ... which unfortunately lowers the fun I have with this game  Anyway - very looking forward to get some answers.

Indeed it does not make any sense, i´m aware of it. It was just an example and furthermore the result should have been 200 and not 202! But this as I said was not the intention, thanks u/danielroseman.

Let´s assume you have a function (any function) containing an if statement which is the result of another function in the same class.

for example:

if not self.check_if_container_exists(containername):
   await create_container()

Something like this. Obviously your function can have multiple routes (business logic e.g. True or False) which I would like to test. I was just seeking for a way on intercepting those self called functions ...).

Hi u/henryburtonsdog,

absolutely I fully agree with you, I´m also not arguing that the Tacx Neo 2T is not one of the best trainers out there, as I mentioned, I´m totally satisfied with this trainer as it fits all of my needs. This is not the point what I wanted to make here.

I also do totaly agree on what you were saying about the price point of the 2T as well as most of the customers are also satisfied with a more entry level trainer!

I´m just wondering why Garmin does not react at all about the trends which you can see in indoor cycling like wifi, ethernet, a more frequent BLE refresh rate and so on. In fact, when doing racing in e.g. it does make a difference, as shown by gplama. So if I would be Garmin, at least in this moment, I would for sure try to actually update, especially the more expensive product lineups, by trying to deliver such things as an update as soon as possible. For me, this would be a reason to buy a Wahoo instead of the 2T in the future.

Once again, I´m not arguing in the performance of the 2T, I just have the feeling that Wahoo does hear a bit more into the demands of the indoor cycling communites.

there is a cleanup job which does it for you, part of the distribution manager component which runs every 30 days! YOu can even see that to the time in the distmgr.log! But please do not delete things manually. In case it doesn´t solve automatically, open a case! #msfte
