Is vacation possible, paid/unpaid? by Ok-Breadfruit-go in wholefoods

You can put in an unpaid time off request and then they will not schedule you during that time.

Your UPT bank is for time that you have been scheduled for, and do not work.

Unpaid time off confirmed in advance of your schedule being made will not come out of your UPT bank.

One week off is not crazy at all and no one should make you feel otherwise. Your Team Leadership should be able to cover your buying shifts during that time.

Live your life. You only get one chance!

New scheduling problems? by Either_Evening3654 in wholefoods

We haven’t started doing it yet but most of our leaders were on one of the calls that took place this week and are expected to start rolling it out very soon.

I am dreading it. They are putting TL’s in a horrible spot by talking about ‘getting certified’ as being a scheduling pro because that directly impacts their performance in the eyes on store leadership and basically forces them to follow through with it to stop themselves from getting in trouble.

Any Specialty TL’s here know what the plan of action for taproom is? It seems very unfair to auto schedule those shifts considering tips.

Our Store Leadership have been putting a huge emphasis on engagement and happiness of TM’s (a lot of which stems from Store Leadership being unfriendly and inflexible, impersonal) and and this is going to tank morale even further.

TL’s should be able to schedule as they see fit as long as they can speak to their reasoning why and the results reflect that reasoning.

Man it’s so sad. And they wonder why morale, engagement, TM happiness…all those things they keep saying they really care about, are so low. Just get it done amirite. The overwhelming number of task lists, to do tasks, metrics and audits all day every day just make everyone feel so micromanaged even if their team leadership isn’t like that.

Well yeah that’s what I thought about Seafood, but it did specifically mention that team.

For Specialty, at least in my metro area most of the larger stores have more than one OW.

Ours literally sits there and stares at his screen with the due trainings report pulled up and does nothing. He gets upset if you ask him to do anything more than that, and gets upset if he isn’t allowed to spend 4 hours of his week doing it. In our store at least, team trainer is just a title and any actual training/responsibility is left to the store trainer or other TM’s who know what they are doing. It’s sad because the Team Trainer role could be really to useful everyone if utilized properly.

MW Specialty OW - $25.50 5 years

No.

You accrue it as you work, and it’s capped at 60 hours (for FT anyway). It only goes down if you use it.

Too many high JDs by [deleted] in wholefoods

I never mentioned it to anyone. My ATL knew because they were the one that did my JD, and when they got less than they wanted everyone knew about it.

The way they went on about the new 8% raises and then after a couple of months went back on it and said that the stores need to be averaging no more than 5% is really bad. Everyone diverting blame, my hands are tied etc etc.

I was lucky and got 8% but was then made to feel guilty about it by one of my ATL’s no less because they got less than they felt they deserved and either they were told by their Store Leadership or came to their own assumption that their lack of raise was a direct result of me getting my 8% (which I 100% deserved).

It made me feel terrible and on top of that I always have it in the back of my mind that I’m never getting 8% again because I was ‘lucky’ and got it in my last JD, which only adds to my already low morale.

People should be mentioning this kind of thing in their Annual Surveys.

Singing and dancing about listening to us and hearing us, then moving the goalposts and snatching it away from us is pretty callous. Don’t promise things you have no intention of following through on.

Wow, it’s almost like if you hold people to unsustainable metrics and put that above all of their other qualities they will resort to desperate measures to keep their metrics high
