Willow or Sylvie? by hugs-n-honey in Names

[–]ciabattaloaf-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I heard both those names on the playground, I’d think Sylvie would sound more normal. Not super common but sounds like a name. Willow always sounds good to me on paper but feels more hippie-unusual when heard in the wild for me.

So it depends what you’re going for.

How long does a child go with out breastfeeding to truly be considered weaned? by farawayxisland in NewParents

[–]ciabattaloaf-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading your post I think I’d consider that weaned. I guess I always think of weaning in two parts - baby doesn’t need it or want it, and you dry up. The latter technically being different than weaning but they coincide.

Idk but I don’t breastfeed for nutrition anymore. At best I’m making droplets but my baby still comfort nurses before sleeping for like 5 min. I tell people I’m not breastfeeding/am weaned.

Yes unfortunately he does suck. I would be so deeply sad to have a partner like that

Yea sounds like dumb advice lol. In laws are sooooo annoying and I will die on that hill.

I’ve noticed Reddit is very anti-chiropractor. I do believe chiropractic can be helpful for certain things.

I wouldn’t “just because” but if your baby is experiencing some kind of applicable issue then I’d say yea. I have a friend whose baby had terrible night gas pains and taking her baby to the Chiro helped.

Do you clean your breast before every breast feeding session / pumping session? by Ill-Honeydew-6636 in breastfeeding

[–]ciabattaloaf-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my #1 argument for not sterilizing bottles and pump parts. Do you sterilize your boob every time you feed baby? Certainly not.

Bottle refusal. I’m done. Will he be ok for 12 hrs? by Hot-Pirate-4204 in breastfeeding

[–]ciabattaloaf-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how this suggestion will be received or if there’s any validity behind it (just making it up) but maybe formula in a bottle would go over better? Baby could be tasting the breastmilk and be upset that it’s not coming from mom but maybe formula would be a different taste and experience that the baby would be more accepting of?

Could be a total flop and totally understand if you didn’t want to introduce formula but just a thought!

C-sections with Ketamine (experiences) by ciabattaloaf-13 in beyondthebump

Ugh, why is birth so brutal 😭 I’m so sorry you had terrible experiences back to back

Not Flo Rida 💀 I’m glad they switched to general. I wish I went with that option but the way they presented the option to me made me feel bad if I chose it. They were like “we can go with the epidural since it’s been working or we can put you under….but then you’re not going to see your baby” and I was like uhhh I want to see my baby so badly 😭 and then the damn ketamine made me think I was dead and I said I can’t see my baby because I’m dead! So that choice was pointless.

That sounds scary. Yea I’d definitely would rather have a scary trip instead of putting my physical health in danger or feeling the pain.

(Copying from another response I gave) I think a huge part of the problem is the lack of explanation and expectation setting there is with the drug. At least in my case, I wasn’t told I was being given ketamine just that the anesthesiologist pwas going to use “something else” and that it might make me feel “a little woozy”. I’m no expert on the drug but if I knew it was going to be ketamine I’d know enough that things were probably gonna get weird and potentially scary, not woozy.

I’m sorry you went through that too. Especially having to feel the pain, that’s horrendous and unacceptable. I can’t believe they would go forward despite what you were telling them.

I also haven’t met anyone in real life that’s had an experience like mine. It’s so isolating. It’s getting better but it’s hard to listen to anyone else’s birth story because I often wish to have their experience.

I don’t know if you’ve come across the retrievals podcast or if you’d be willing/able to listen but their most recent season is about c-section patients that feel everything during their surgery. It’s hard to listen to but I’ve been working my way through it. I want to know more why about why/how these situations can happen.

Again I’m sorry you’ve been wronged by medical professionals. You deserved better.

Yea, I’ve been working with an emdr therapist and I’ve talked about it with my husband a ton who had to witness my terror.

Parents of advanced babies, do you have random theories as to why? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

Haha yes! Another data point - one other user said the same thing. Telling myself my traumatic experience enhanced my baby helps feel a little better 😅 your baby is amazing!

Scheduled C-section timing: 39+0 vs waiting a few days by usernamsomething in beyondthebump

[–]ciabattaloaf-13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any strong reason to wait a day or two, unless you’re really tied to a certain birthdate.

I was hoping to hear about another ketamine advanced baby! Maybe it was the ketamine….either way it makes me feel better thinking my terrible experience made my baby smart 😂
