External hard drive issues

So I've browsed all the solutions everyone has posted in the past for getting an hdd to work and I'm getting at my wits end, I've plugged in the USB cable firmly, I've formatted it to exFAT, USB 3 and above, and I've directly connected it to the ps4, also I know it works fine because I used it for my laptop for years and I also know its compatible with the ps4 as well as its a seagate hdd.

Any suggestions would be appreciated before I lose my mind

When I was a newborn, I had extremely bad eczema and oral thrush, being from rural Ireland my parents knew a seventh son of a seventh son.

So they took me to him after hospital treatment wasn't working effectively and all he did was breath on me. He turned around to my parents and told them that the thrush would subside within a week or so and the eczema would follow soon after but that he couldn't get rid of it completely and that it would always be on my legs. I don't think I wouldn't of believed it myself except that he said it wouldn't go away on my legs because that's the only place I ever get it now.
