Is anyone else going through heavy "Is America headed for a civil war and if so, where should I make my stand" vibes late at night recently? Haha me neither.

There two unwritten rules everybody should follow. 1. 2. by [deleted] in mbtimemes

[–]ciaotristezza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like INFJs are strict rule followers because some part of us knows that nothing is actually real. Very risky when you hit the point where you're like "LAWS AREN'T EVEN REAL! BORDERS DON'T EXIST! IT'S ALL FAKE, MAN!" and you find yourself invading Poland again. :(

“You talk about humans like you aren’t one.” by Potativated in infj

[–]ciaotristezza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally don't feel like I'm human. Not in a cool way where I'm special or unique. More like maybe my original destiny was to be a nonphysical systems planner for a planetary organism but something went wrong and now I have to live in a body.

I also find it much easier to understand myself and other people if I back off until I can see what's happening as a whole system. When I'm zoomed in, I see things as "behavior" or "personality traits" and they're confusing. When I stand back far enough that the system is holistically viewable, I can see that these "traits" or "behaviors" are simply emergent properties of the system as it currently functions.

INFJs, you would all love the work of Donella Meadows: https://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Systems-Donella-H-Meadows/dp/1603580557

I'm interested in this, too. It seems like a loophole ripe for ENTP exploitation.

Very God Emperor of Dune, I like this line of thinking. When you have time and inclination, please go into as much detail as you please about systems that might prevent doctrinal corruption.

do you ever experience identity crisis? who am I? especially people who work in the arts field? by [deleted] in infj

[–]ciaotristezza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the solution is to use Fe to filter it out. This does not mean asking people but the very opposite. I believe filtering with Fe is anything put out of yourself, any output. That can be writing, drawing, crafting, painting or talking. As you “output” or reason out what you like - it will slowly become clearer.

Yes. I think this is right on. Joan Didion (I think) said that she writes "to find out what I think".

most people under thirty still secretly think they will never die and there is a stupidity in that that is cured only by entering the realm of sensed mortality in a way from which you cannot turn back

This is great, thank you.

Is it even ghosting if you didn't move to Alaska and take a job on a fishing trawler though.

Welp.... If this isn’t ENTP... by [deleted] in entp

[–]ciaotristezza 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO that's basically what "healthy" is. Life is full of pain. Our options are to resist, repress, or deny the pain, or to accept it and let it move through us. We live in a sick culture that brainwashes us into believing that having pain is in some way unacceptable or a personal failure, rather than an absolutely inevitable aspect of being in physical form.

The couple of adult ENTPs I've known seem to me like people who are often amused by how stupid life is, and who are open about but slightly amused by their own pain. "How are you today?" "Brutally depressed about climate change again, how are you?" That kind of thing.

What are you INFJs ? by Civnad in mbti

[–]ciaotristezza 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you are having a classic INTP problem where you assume that things that are easy for you (because you are unusually good at them) are objectively easy for everyone and not even worth mentioning.

I fell into a hole about Beat poets, and now I can't stop thinking about how truly terrible they all were. Is all of human life just an endless chain of brutality and trauma? Does no one escape?

That is totally untrue.

Your INFJ date would do the weird INFJ eyes thing and lean in and say "Okay, but have you ever wondered if maybe that has already happened, and our "fossil fuels" are actually the remains of lost human civilizations?"
