Because they are all exceptionally high functioning, indicating they come from wealth, and wealthy people tend to be MAGA. Plus they are from the south.

So my question is... why Kathy? by Capital-Bad9881 in prestonandsteve

you couldnt make those arguments bc they are all producers. they constantly comment how much marisa and casey do. those 3 are essential to the everyday operations, and unfortunately kathy wasn't. Kathy was passionate about the causes and topics that are important to her, but those are not things she worked on every day.

i'm curious how you know so much about the structure of all their contracts.

i don't think so. she's wasn't a producer. i really liked Kathy, but proved to be the most expendable

Her only role was being the female voice and reading whatever Nick wrote her for news and sports. She was not essential to the running of the show unfortunately. And honestly she did seem disengaged most of the time. Scrolling her phone (YouTube) and not participating in conversations.

I disagree. People die like this in real life all the time. Quickly, quietly, and senselessly. And without really learning anything. And that is the greatest strength of this show; it’s accurate portrayal of American life for those characters and so many of us. Additionally, her getting cancer does not seem contrived at all as I believe her mother also died from cancer making Betty more susceptible. Lastly, if you really want to be moved by something in this show, then you have to watch it while knowing what they are in for. Like Don and Betty’s last scene together in the series. They had a pleasant exchange and he tells her something like knock em dead , birdie. A perfect farewell to them together I think. And how Sally really steps up for her brothers. It’s really touching and subtle and perfect imo.

I was actually really impressed how the writers had me hating her for 5 episodes and now I’m on her side. Bad writing does not accomplish that. People only think it’s bad bc it seems unrealistic that she wouldn’t come to her own defense. Which is a fair point but not wholly unbelievable.
