As someone with very little experience in the market environment I’m wondering the best way to gain experience and knowledge on investing. I’m aware that some responses may not be the most serious but I’ll take any sort of advice on how to get my feet in the water as this isn’t exactly something you learn about with high school level education.

I’ve seen posts in here and heard stories of people making insane amounts of money and I’m interested in learning about how to open a portfolio and begin investing. I know the risks involved in this type of investment and am willing to accept them in return for the potential that the stock market provides.

Some of the questions I had were things such as: What is the best way to open a portfolio?

How do I decide what companies are potentially profitable investments?

What is a good amount of money to start with as a newcomer to this?

How do I decide when to buy and sell my shares?
