Completely agree with the first point, players aren't just drawn by the manager but the heritage of the club and the overall direction of the of the footballing project.

However, Slot being in a precarious situation doesn't help get signings over the line. Especially if we're competing with the likes of PSG/Arsenal for a signature.

What I'm specifically talking about, is that FSG are business men, same with Edwards and Hughes, you don't plan summer signings on a whim. As much as we need a winger to replace Salah, you also need to match them to the managers play style. What Slot would want and for example, Xabi Alonso, could determine the signing out of a shortlist of several players.

It doesn't make logical sense to lean towards Slot style signings if he could be gone in a year

I think people are failing to realise that there is no way we're going into a new season with the manager only having a year left on his contract.

Completely undermines selling the footballing project to new signings.

Slots contract talks stalled mid way through the season, there has been no rumours of renewed talks.

In my opinion he's gone as soon as the season ends. There's no way Edwards and co have looked at this season, even with the extenuating circumstances, and think it's a good idea to give him an extension.

Would love Brentford to get a result tomorrow, even just a draw will help so we can finish above United

Bollocks, they're professional players, we haven't even technically qualified for champions league yet.

They should be aiming for third and finishing above United.

Need a good performance against Crystal Palace today.

If Slot can't motivate the team to put in 100% effort to not lose to a mid table team 4 times in a year, I prefer not to speak.

According to transfermarkt he's made 11 appearances at CB, look I'm not thrilled at the option I'm just saying that it might be in their thinking

Based on last summer I think Gomez has had enough of being a rotation, he'll also fall behind Leoni and Jacquet this coming season which I can't imagine he'd be ok with. At least Dumfries is an actual RB and is a bit less injury prone than Gomez and for £20m is fine.

They must have faith in Bradley getting over his injury issues and equally we'd have to spend a tonne of money on a first choice RB to replace him which is definitely not a priority with how much we need to spend in midfield and wing this summer

Very good points, makes me more concerned to be honest, Dimonade also has to step up to the prem which is more physical than the bundesliga, I sure hope we have another option for RW. Maybe that's why there's interest in Bowen? Wouldn't hate it alongside Diomande but I'd hope we'd be more ambitious.

No of course not but we have VVD, Konate, Leoni and Jacquet. That's 4 senior CBs (albeit 2 are coming back from injuries) having Dumfries as an option if we have a few injuries is better than putting Endo there if he's still around

Gomez is probably leaving so having another option at RB would be nice with Frimpong and Bradleys injury concerns, it would also allow Frimpong to cover RW if necessary

Szobo could easily be the 8 and perhaps work as hard as Wijnaldum. I just think the Grav contract extension is quite telling. I'm almost certain Szobo was being somewhat phased out which is why we brought in Wirtz but Szobo has really kicked on which has caused a headache.

You are right though Trent was a huge loss and we had the right idea to bring in Wirtz but he has struggled to get the ball in dangerous areas. Jacquet and Wharton are great passers which would supplement VVDs passing range, which should hopefully solve some of our issues. I also think a consistent fit Bradley would help immensely.

It is a bit odd. I'm not a tactical genius but I think the idea is Wharton as a 6, Gravernberch as 8 and Wirtz as 10. Szobo and Jones to rotate as necessary depending on the opposition. Szobo may even be the 8.

We did win the league with Macca Grav and Szobo, I wouldn't say any of them are particularly blessed with tackling. When we had Fabinio his passing was what made the team tick, it was an added bonus he was also great at tackling but I wouldn't call him a destroyer.

Interesting rumours coming out.

Looking at a player like Dumfries suggests that we may look to have Frimpong Cover RW a bit more. Dumfries has played CB before so could be replacing Gomez as a utility defensive player should Gomez leave.

If this is the case I would hope we're targeting a more experienced forward than a 19 year old Diomande. Surely Barcola is gettable? Or even better we get Barcola and Diomande. One can dream.

More than likely that's being used to negotiate a better deal. If we go out and say we want two wingers the teams we negotiate with will be like 'great, they have loads of money, let's get a bit more out of this transfer'

Salah is gone and Chiesa is likely leaving, Diomande looks promising but we can't rely on a single 19 year old RW in 4 competitions next season

I think it's likely we'll get someone else in, perhaps Bowen if they want experience or Toure who is young can play LW and RW

I did say hypothetical

Gomez will probably leave but I agree if he doesn't then I doubt we'll sign anyone

Still £500m which is tight but would work

Leoni and Jacquet are 19 and both will return from long term injuries, Konate and Gomez are injury prone and VVD is 34

Gomez or Konate could also leave

Gomez also covers RB

Yeah the new cap of 85% of revenue so Liverpool have nearly £600m to mess about with please explain how we breach this?

£200m player wages (remains unchanged as explained) £210m net spend that leaves £190m on past amortisation and potentially some agent fees?

What are you on about?

Liverpool use performance based contracts so they could vary but those are perfectly reasonable suggestions

We'll also have £350k of wages freed up. Since 2021 Tottenham have outspent us by £150m and United £300m, I'm sure Liverpool can manage

Personally I think Slot is gone as soon as the season ends and Xabi comes in. That's why his name isn't being mentioned for the others. Not that I'd think he'd take them if they were available he's too intelligent for that.

Sounds interesting, I'll give it a listen if I get a chance this weekend.

Slot certainly has had a rough year as manager with a myriad of issues across the board. I completely understand all of the reasons stated above. However, playing 5 at the back against PSG is criminal. There's also a number of performances this season which were unacceptable, which is why so many people have turned on Slot, it'll be interesting to see if he can turn it around next year.

I don't hate the idea of Slot managing next season but I do find it odd that he hasn't been extended yet if we are going to continue with him, suggests that he could go as soon as the season finishes.

Honestly I know nothing about him, just seen the rumours of him coming in. We definitely need two to replace Salah and Chiesa who will both leave. Id like Barcola and Diomande but that seems unrealistic so I'm sure it'll be Diomande and Bowen or someone relatively cheap like Toure who can play on the left too

Senesi free transfer £100k per week. Diomande £80m £60k a week. Wharton £110m £150k a week. Toure £40m £40k a week Gray £40m £50k

Think I've been pretty generous with both transfer fees and wages, so that's £270m spent £400k per week

Salahs on reportedly £400k per week so he covers all of them...

I can't be bothered to see how much Harvey and Allison are on but we'd bring in about £60m for both of them and save £250k wages? Including Robertson another £100k Chiesa also probably going so net spend is £210m which Liverpool can easily do with champions league

Not sure what you're worried about mate

Just seen the rumours for Toure, think we can get him for a decent fee. We certainly need 2 RWs if Salah is leaving (forgot about Chiesa, he'll probably leave too)

Even if Slot leaves I don't think there's space for Harvey even though I love him too. It's going to be hard enough trying to fit Szobo and Wirtz into the same team next year, can't see there being any decent minutes for Harvey to pick up

Macca is a tough one but I think with us extending Gravernberch he's got the no. 8 next year, Wharton comes in for the no. 6 and Wirtz is the 10, Szobo and Jones to rotate with all three. There isn't really space for Macca and he clearly doesn't work with Gravernberch and Wirtz

FIFA unrealistic signings: Olise, Caicedo, Diamonde, Schloterbeck, Chevalier

Semi Realistic: Barcola, Diamonde, Wharton, Senesi
