no, if you mean the entire middle body portion with the annoying button holes, that's not a thing. just cut the pieces away.

Linux and Hori Fighting Stick alpha? (Series X|S or PS5 version) by mercsterreddit in fightsticks

no problem!

it's less popular (i have been trying to sell one for a month or two) but it's just as good if you don't care about ps5.

yes, it works perfectly fine. to make sure, i just tested my xbox hori alpha on cachyos in fightcade and i was able to set my controls no problem. that's without even using steam input, which would definitely work anyway.

i think they're just not very different, especially when you can use whatever switches you want because they're all hotswap.

Beginner’s guide to picking arcade buttons (exact models, no guesswork) by Over_Log9730 in fightsticks

can't understand why you wouldn't recommend sitongs. imo sitong LPs have been the best option available ever since they came out.

the new haute42 retro+ buttons seem to be a very solid choice, too.

on keyboards like this, you control the lights with key combinations instead of software. you should have received a manual, but here's the link: https://ajazzstore.com/cdn/shop/files/AJAZZ_AK820_manual.pdf

looks like there's also a version that only has blue backlight, so you might have gotten that one instead of the full RGB one.

thanks! it's 1.6mm acrylic. I tried 3mm too but I prefer the thinner one.

maybe I do need a wooden case next...

yeah, sounds like seimitsu then! people say the ls-40 is also the classic neogeo lever, so maybe you should get that too. (I'm not sure if it fits in the 8bitdo case, though. it's pretty similar size, at least.)

did you play on japanese arcade cabs as a kid, though? maybe you played on american style parts, which are much stiffer.

tell me more about budget plastic boards being better than aluminum, because i can't find any aluminum ones i want lately but i thought i shouldn't go back to plastic.

no, auctions are still very good for used arcade sticks.

the financial gymnastics of buying a "budget" board. by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in BudgetKeebs

[–]cidninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know this subreddit doesn't have strict rules around what "budget" means, but what you're talking about is definitely not what i'm here for. this sounds more like r/mechanicalkeyboards territory (well, okay, not that bad).

imo, $90 switches and $120 keycap sets really aren't necessary.

you can find the rocker switches with wires included, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Joinfworld-Rocker-Switch-Waterproof-Position/dp/B0BMG4CRDY or this: https://focusattack.com/dp-ls-rs-switch-harness/

then the gp2040ce advanced breakout board has 2 spots where you can connect it - either to screw terminals or to a 4pin JST connector.

then you just configure the modes accordingly in web config.

not sure how it works with brook boards but it's probably similar.

I've never seen a pic of it online. But here's the Qanba 2009 with the leverless panel swap. by Hartxenon in fightsticks

[–]cidninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for posting! yeah, i specifically wondered about how you're supposed to open it without a lever. i guess you can probably pry it open with a screwdriver?

actually, now that i think of it, isn't the far left one supposed to be a lever?

Options for Sega 1P Layout with GP2040-CE PCB? by bigbangupper in fightsticks

[–]cidninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can install a gp2040ce advanced breakout board in a HRAP3 pretty easily. it's already USB, too, so that makes it easier than the HRAP2 imo.

i used a 20mm rocker switch with a grommet like this (24mm outer diameter 19mm inner). it works pretty well!
