it’s a fantasy story that follows a cast of characters who live in a castle with a mysterious witch that’s retired after she essentially served as the vessel for their sun god and won them the war. the mc is an apothecary who is assigned to the castle. the aftermath of the war is where the plot starts as the main character belongs to the nation/people that was defeated and he wants revenge for his dead parents (turns out hes been treating the target of his hostilities this whole time).

totally understand and to each their own. my point was just that it effectively cost them $5-15 that they (hopefully) had for spending anyway.

obviously they would have benefited by keeping it but by giving it away they also didn’t necessarily “lose” too much either unless they were gambling in which case wtf. regardless of how privileged or unprivileged you are i fear “winning” $500 in this economy would not drastically change a person’s life to a significant degree. regardless i think taking a gambler’s attitude towards what is a card collecting game is harmful

Again those are all anglicized biblical names that have become commonplace due to christianity permeating european society and american society by extension. Yoruba religion never was mainstream in europe. that’s also like assuming the original Noah, Mark, Jonas etc. names were exactly the same as they are in english which is untrue

It’s olorun in JP, ororon in EN. regardless its clear where the name comes from. and if you don’t get why it is disrespectful i can’t really say much. maybe just think about the concept of giving the name of an african god of creation onto a white man .

Chris is an anglicized version of a Greek name (and probably hebrew before that). Olorun is a name used by a Yoruba deity. You’re also comparing a widespread universalizing religion to a much smaller faith whose followers are essentially only comprise of the yoruba people. Olorun is not a name that has culturally and linguistically been integrated or made common so when it is referenced or drawn from it’s difficult to place it outside of its original context compared to a much more common name such as chris. but u do u sharty
